MICHAŁ WÓDCZAK obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in Electronics and Telecommunications in 2001, as well as his PhD degree in Wireless Communications Systems, in 2006, all from Poznań University of Technology in Poland. Prior to assuming the current position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Technology at Poznań University of Economics, he worked in industry, academia, and international research laboratories. Starting from 2001, he was Design Engineer at Teletra in Poznań. In 2003, he became Senior Researcher and, then, Research Expert at Poznań University of Technology. As of 2008, he was employed as Senior Research Scientist and Programme Manager, initially at Telcordia Technologies, and, then, at Ericsson, where he worked until 2012.
Michał Wódczak is Senior Member of IEEE (Communications Society) and serves as Editorial Board Member of IEEE ComSoc Technology News in NY, USA. He runs standardisation activities as Vice Chairman of ETSI Industry Specification Group on Autonomic network engineering for the self-managing Future Internet (ETSI ISG AFI) in Sophia-Antipolis, France. He also acts as Rapporteur of ETSI ISG AFI on Autonomic Ad hoc, Mesh, and Sensor Networks.
Michał Wódczak is the author of the book “Autonomic Cooperative Networking” published by Springer and the author or co-author of about 50 scientific journal, magazine and conference papers, as well as book chapters. Moreover, he co-authored 30 scientific reports within EU FP6 and FP7 projects WINNER, WINNER II, EFIPSANS, and E-SPONDER, as well as edited and contributed to ETSI Group Specifications. He was also Editor-in-Chief EU FP6 NEWCOM Newsletter published in over 10 issues.
Apart from the professional activities, he is interested in linguistics. He obtained Postgraduate Certificate in Translation and Interpreting from School of Translation, Interpreting and Languages at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He also serves as Board Member of the Association of Polish Translators and Interpreters (STP) in Warsaw, Poland.
