WOJCIECH CELLARY worked at the Poznan University of Economics for 25 years from 1996 to 2021, serving as the Head of the Department of Information Technology from 1996 to 2020. Prof. W. Cellary graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Poznan University of Technology in 1974 and began working at the Institute of Automatics, later renamed to the Institute of Computer Science. In 1977 he defended his doctoral dissertation in computer engineering, in 1981 he received the habilitation degree, and in 1989 the academic title of professor. In 1974–1992 he was the Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Computer Science, Poznan University of Technology. In 1992–1996 he was the Vice-Rector for Science at the Franco-Polish School of New Information and Communication Technologies in Poznań. He was employed at six foreign universities: Nancy I and II, Paris-Sud, and Paris-Dauphine in France, and at the universities of Genoa and Ancona in Italy, where he lectured and conducted research. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at the United Nations University in Macao SAR China and Guimarães in Portugal. He is currently a professor at the University WSB Merito (Poland).

Prof. W. Cellary managed over 80 research and industrial projects concerning the development of hardware and software for computer systems and their applications in telecommunications, computer industry, power engineering, education and administration. These projects were financed by Polish, French and American industry as well as by 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Program of the European Union. He is co-author of 3 European patents. He was the main organizer of 64 national and international scientific conferences and a member of the program committees of another 420 conferences. He has authored or co-authored numerous publications: 11 books, 17 books as an editor, 30 chapters in books, 163 papers in journals and conference proceedings, and 77 features on IT published in daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza. Besides research and teaching his professional activity encompasses consulting, membership in numerous professional organizations, editorial boards of scientific journals, think tanks, committees, councils, and various associations. In 2002 he was a representative of Poland at the General Assembly of United Nations devoted to “ICT for Development”. He supervised 18 PhD theses, one of them received two awards in the national contests for outstanding PhD theses organized by two professional societies. He is a recipient of 51 awards for achievements in research and teaching including Individual Award conferred in 2021 by the Minister of Education and Science for lifetime academic excellence. Currently his research interests are focused on technologies of electronic business and electronic government; development of e-economy and information society; and Industry 4.0. His lectures were attended by about 20,000 students.
