KRZYSZTOF WALCZAK received the M.Sc. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications in 1992 and in Computer Science in 1994, both from the Technical University of Poznan. He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science in 2001 from the Technical University of Gdansk. From 1992 to 1996 he was with the Franco-Polish School of New Information and Communication Technologies in Poznan. He spent over one year as an invited researcher at the Syracuse University, NY, USA. In 1996 he joined the Department of Information Technology at the Poznan University of Economics, where currently he is an assistant professor.

His current research interests include virtual reality systems, multimedia systems, interactive television, Internet and intranet communication, and databases. He was acting as a technical coordinator in numerous research and industrial projects in these domains.

He has authored or co-authored over 60 research articles published in journals and proceedings of international conferences. He is also the author of several European and US patents.

He is a member of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), Web3D Consortium and Board of Directors of VSMM (International Society on Virtual Systems and Multimedia).

  • Team Award of the Polish Logistics Association for design and development of the project "Internet e-Order Management System e MAX MultiLingual" deployed in the Philips Lighting Poland, covering 27 countries from Europe and Asia, June 2001
  • First Prize in the contest "Internet Economy at Polish Universities" under the auspice of the President of Poland, sponsored by Intel Corporation for the project "Electronic Business at The Poznan Universtiy of Economics". The First Prize was a computer equipment worth $77 000, October 2000.
  • Stipend for young researchers, Foundation for Polish Science, 1998
