December 30th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to join the international editorial review board of the International Journal of E-Business Research (IJEBR). December 16th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the debate organized by the monthly Harvard Business Review Polska. The debate focused on the newest trends in supply chain management and their impact on the activity of the firms acting on the Polish market. The conclusions of the discussion will be published in a February issue of Harvard Business Review Polska devoted to the supply chain management.

December 3rd, 2004 The Poznan University of Economics hosted a regional conference entitled "A Strategy e-Wielkopolska - Building Global Information Society and Knowledge-Based Economy in the Wielkopolska Region". Over 170 participants represented local authorities of the Wielkopolska Region. In the conference participated also: Mr Wlodzimierz Marcinski, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Scientific Research and Information Technology and Mr. Stefan Mikolajczak, the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Voivodie. Prof. Cellary presented the Strategy "e-Wielkopolska", a document developed by a team of researchers and representatives of educational, technical and economic regional institutions. November 30th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 7th ECSA WORLD Conference: "The European Union and Emerging World Orders: Perceptions and Strategies" which was held in Brussels from November 30 to December 1, 2004. The conference was organized by the Jean Monnet Action and the European Community Studies Association ECSA-WORLD which is the global framework covering 50 national associations of professors and researchers in European integration, representing countries across the five continents. November 18th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working session of the Task Force Committee "Poland in European Union" at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

October 30th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 3rd MOST Think Tank Summit and Conference on Mobile Technology for European Integration and Growth which was held in Bucharest (Romania). The MOST (Mobile Open Society through Wirelless Technology) initiative aims at setting up a regional mechanism that will help organize cooperation between universities, wireless telecom providers and content providers operating in Central and Eastern Europe. October 26th, 2004 Dr. Jarogniew Rykowski participated in the 6th International Conference on Electronic Commerce ICEC 2004: Engineering the New Landscape which was held in Delft (The Netherlands). October 15th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Rafal Wojciechowski participated in the 7th Science and Culture Festival, organized jointly by all universities of Poznan, held in Poznan from October 13 to October 16. Prof. Cellary presented the results of the European project ARCO realized by our department, and Mr. Wojciechowski had a presentation Augmented Virtual Reality Applications for Virtual Museums.

October 7th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to visit the Institute for Technical and Business Information Systems of the Otto-von-Guericke-University of Magdeburg (Germany). Prof. Cellary acquainted with activity of SAP Competence Centre, an initiative of SAP University Alliances Program.

October 4th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary had an invited lecture entitled Electronic Administration as a Driving Factor of the Work Market for the high management of The City Hall in Poznan.

September 21st, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in a "kick off" meeting of the new European project called INTUITION (Network of Excellence on Virtual Reality and Virtual Environments Applications for Future Workspaces). INTUITION is the largest Network of Excellence operating under the 6 Framework of the European Commission (IST) aiming at structuring the European Research Area on Virtual Reality and guide future developments in the relative field by becoming a world-leading group. To serve this scope all major European stakeholders (58 partners) coming from either the research and academia area or from various industrial sectors have joined forces within this Network of 6th Framework Programme. The first meeting took place in Athens (Greece) and was hosted by I-SENSE Group, one of the Research Groups of the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS).

September 17th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated as an independent expert of the European Commission in the review session of the project QUALEG of the 6th Framework Programme. The meeting was held in Brussels on Commission's premises.

September 15th, 2004 Dr Krzysztof Walczak participated in the 11th International Workshop on Systems, Signals and Image Processing IWSSIP 2004 which took place in Poznan. September 6th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated as a special guest in the 20th National Conference Informatics in School, organized in Wroclaw by the Institute of Computer Science of the Wroclaw University and the Ministry of National Education and Sport. The opening session of the 20th jubilee edition of the conference was devoted to the history of development of information technologies in Polish schools, in particular, to the first Polish computer for schools called Elwro 800 Junior which was developed in mid eighties by a team working under Prof. Cellary's leadership. September 1st, 2004 Dr Krzysztof Walczak participated in the 6th International Cultural Heritage Informatics Meeting which took place in Berlin from August 30 to September 2, 2004. He participated also in The Science and Arts Research Labs Exhibition Digital Culture and Heritage showing some of the best programs currently developed worldwide in art, science and technologies and focusing on digitization of cultural heritage and on the emergence of new digital art and culture forms. During the exhibiton the results of the European project ARCO were presented.

September 1st, 2004 Dr Willy Picard participated in the 4th International Workshop on Web Based Collaboration WBC 2004, associated with 15th International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications DEXA 2004, which took place in Zaragoza (Spain) from August 30 to September 3, 2004. Dr Picard presented a paper entitled Towards Support Systems for Non-Monolithic Collaborative Document Edition: the Document-Group-Message Model.

August 24th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 4th IFIP Conference on e-Commerce, e-Business, and e-Government I3E 2004 associated with the 18th IFIP World Computer Congress which took place in Toulouse (France) from August 22nd to August 27th, 2004. Prof. Cellary chaired a session on M-Commerce. He presented also an invited talk Job Chances in an Electronic and Knowledge Based Economy. The IFIP World Computer Congress is a unique event assembling internationally recognised top experts on information and communications sciences and technologies. July 23rd, 2004 Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in the working meeting of the partners of the European project ARCO which was held in Brighton (UK).

July 17th, 2004 Mr. Wojciech Wiza participated in the 4th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction HCI 2004 which took place in Oviedo (Spain) from July 16th to July 23rd, 2004. The conference was organized by The University of Oviedo. Mr. Wiza was invited to be the conference keynote speaker. He had a talk entitled Interactive Interfaces for Presenting Cultural Heritage Objects.

July 9th, 2004 Mr. Sergiusz Strykowski received a Ph.D degree form the Council of the Faculty of Management of the Poznan University of Economics. The title of his Ph.D thesis was Supply Chain Transformation Under The Influence of Electronic Business Technologies (Transformacja lancuchow dostaw w systemach logistycznych pod wplywem technologii elektronicznego biznesu).

June 27th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in an inauguration meeting of the Center for Advanced Information and Communications Technology for Entreprises. The consortium of four members: The University of Science and Technology of Cracow, The Warsaw University of Technology Business School, the Poznan University of Economics, and the company ComArch S.A. was founded by Ministry of Scientific Research and Information Technology on April 2004. The main goal of the consortium is to apply together for European Union funds in the field of information and communications technology.

June 25th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Cities on Internet which took place in Zakopane from June 23 to June 26, 2004. Prof. Cellary participated in the session entitled e-Government planning and implementation - lesson learnt in Europe since middle 90th. June 21st, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary had an invited speech to the staff of the Marshal Office of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship (Urzad Marszalkowski Wojewodztwa Wielkopolskiego). The main topic of the speech was the role of the local administration in the global information society.

June 21st, 2004 The Department of Information Technology has hosted Prof. Andreas Weigend from the Stanford University (USA). Prof. Weigend gave an open talk to the staff and students of our university entitled People and Data. Understanding Human Behaviour. Prof. Weigend met also the research staff of our Department. June 18th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Dr. Krzysztof Walczak have been invited to join the Program Committee of the International Conference "Multi-platform e-Publishing 2004" to be held in Athens on the 21 and 22 of October 2004.

May 28th, 2004 Results of the the fifth edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest is addressed to the students of the 1st year of studies at the Management Faculty of the Poznan University of Economics. The purpose of the contest is to reward the best web site on business issues created by students. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, quality of design and technical reliability. The prizes (computer NTT with a monitor, laser printer HP, scanner Hp and mobile phones) were founded by Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. and Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa ERA GSM. This year over 620 web sites were submitted to the contest. The results were announced during the reward ceremony conducted by Prof. W. Cellary in the presence of the representatives of sponsors and the vice-president of the university, Prof. Marian Gorynia. The First Prize won Hubert Marciniak for the web site eSoftware.com - a Platform for Programmers and Customers. May 21st, 2004 Dr. Willy Picard was invited to visit the Concordia Electronic Commerce Institute at Concordia University in Montreal (Canada). He was invited to participate in the international collaboration SSHRC program Electronic Negotiations, Media and Transactions for Socio-economic Interactions, directed by Prof. Gregory Kersten. May 18th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the seminar Significance of the Internet for Insurance Associations Operating on the Polish Market, organized by the Chair of Insurance of the Poznan University of Economics. May 17th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Application of Information Technology in Public Administration organized in Gorzow Wielkopolski by the Ministry of Scientific Research and Information Technology and the Governor of Lubuskie Province. Prof. Cellary had an invited speech E-education and E-government as Factors of Development.

May 14th, 2004 Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in the meeting in Victoria and Albert Museum in London. During the meeting the researchers from the University of Sussex and the Poznan University of Economics had a presentation entitled Building Virtual Museum Exhibitions with ARCO in which the recent results of the ARCO project were presented.

April 29th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited speech to the teachers of Mosina's primary and secondary schools. The speech was entitled Why education will be the most important in XXI century?The meeting was organized by the Mayor of Mosina Community.

April 23rd, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 6th Forum of the Future Poland://Germany@2015 (VI Forum Przyszlosci polska://niemcy@2015), organized by the Konrad Adenauer Fundation in Warsaw from April 23 to April 24, 2004. The Forum, organized under the patronage of Aleksander Kwasniewski, was devoted to the bilateral relations between Poland and Germany and their role in European Union. Prof. Cellary was invited to chair a session Economy@2015. He presented also a speech on knowledge-based society. April 22nd, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Dr. Willy Picard were general organizers and chairs of the International Workshop on Theory and Applications of e-Negotiations TAEN 2004 organized in the conjunction with BIS 2004. The workshop aimed at bringing together researchers from different disciplines, developers, and users interested in the critical success factors of e-negotiations systems, and looking for new business and research cooperation opportunities. April 21st, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Dr Willy Picard participated in the 7th International Conference on Business Information Systems BIS 2004 which took place in Poznan in the Poznan University of Economics premises from April 21th to April 23th, 2004. April 14th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 6th Asia Pacific Web Conference APWEB 2004, which took place in Hanghzou (China) form April 14th to April 17th. The objective of the conference was to share the experience in the area of the World Wide Web with the underlying technologies and applications. Prof. Cellary was a member of the Program Committee, he presented also a tutorial Towards a Global Information Society, focused on non-technical aspects of the transformation of economy to electronic economy and society to global information society. April 5th, 2004 Dr. Krzysztof Walczak and Mr. Wojciech Wiza participated in the 9th International Conference on 3D Web Technology which took place in Monterey (CA, USA) from April 5th to April 8th. Dr. Walczak presented a paper entitled Building Virtual and Augmented Reality Museum Exhibitions (co-authors: Wojciechowski R., K. Walczak, M. White and W. Cellary). Mr. Wiza presented a paper entitled Periscope - A System for Adaptive 3D Visualisation of Search Results (co-authors: Wiza, W., K. Walczak and W. Cellary).

April 1st, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the Logistics Meeting 2004 organized by FM Logistics and SAP Polska in Jachranka near Warsaw from April 1st to April 2nd. Prof. Cellary participated in a panel discussion conducted by Harvard Business Review devoted to the role of information technologies on supply chain management. March 12th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to participate in the session of Committee of Science, Education and Sports of the Senat of the Republic of Poland. The session was devoted to evaluate a program submitted by Polish government concerning the preparation of Poland to Global Information Society.

March 11th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a discussion on 1st Programme of Polish Radio devoted to the role of the Internet in Polish schools.

March 10th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working session of the Task Force Committee "Poland in European Union" at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The main goal of the task force committee is to discuss all aspects of the place of Poland in United Europe.

March 9th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the Education Congress which was held in Warsaw from March 9 to March 10, 2004. Prof. Cellary participated in the pannel discussion on new technologies in education.

March 1st, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the Polish-German Workshop Over Borders - e-Government in the Weakly-developed Regions, organized in Poznan by the Heinrich Boll Foundation, Alcatel SEL Foundation for Communication Research and Cities on Internet Association. The workshop was the second one form the series of three conferences. Prof. Cellary presented a paper entitled Electronic Business in Border Regions. February 28th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 2nd Creative Teachers Forum which was held in Pila. Prof. Cellary gave an invited speech on the role of education in global information society.

February 26th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inauguration lecture on the role of education in Global Information Society for teachers and students attending Educational Fair in Nowa Sol. The fair was organized by the local government.

February 25th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference introducing the project e-Wielkopolska. This programme is a local government initiative focused on using Internet technologies for local administration in order to stimulate and facilitate the activity of Small and Medium-Size Enterprises. Prof. Cellary gave an invited speech Strategic Importance of e-Wielkopolska Programme. He was invited to chair the Editorial Committee of the e-Wielkopolska Programme.

February 23rd, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working session of the Task Force Committee "Poland in European Union" at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The main goal of the task force committee is to discuss all aspects of the place of Poland in United Europe.

February 18th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated as an independent expert in the EU Expert Workshop Enlarging the European Information Society: Potential IS Strategies towards Lisbon 2010 Objectives, organized by the Institute for Proscpective Technological Studies of the European Commission. The workshop was held in Seville (Spain) from February 18 to February 20, 2004.

February 16th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Strong Poland in Strong Europe organized by the Office of European Integration of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland under the personal auspices of the President Aleksander Kwasniewski. The conference was the first one organized by the President in the framework of the large national debate on the Poland place in the European Union after 1st May 2004. January 21st, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to join the Program Committee for the Distributed Systems and Applications track of the 10th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems ICPADS 2004 to be held in Newport Beach (CA, USA) on July 2004.

January 20th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Developing International Connections - International Week at the Institut National des Télécommunications (INT), which took place in Evry (France) from January 20 to January 22, 2004. Prof. Cellary presented two seminars: Virtual Reality, Multimedia and e-Negotiations and Challenges of the Knowledge-based Economy and Global Information Society. The Poznan University of Economics and The Institut National des Télécommunications have signed also a bilateral agreement concerning the cooperation within the SOCRATES ERASMUS Programme. January 15th, 2004 Mr. Miroslaw Stawniak has received a place as a Marie Curie Fellow in Computer Science in the Graduate Research Centre for VSLI and Computer Graphics in the School of Science and Technology at the University of Sussex (UK). Marie Curie Fellowships financed by European Commission provide European placements for pre-doctoral researchers. The duration of the stage is 4 months.

January 7th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended the BETT Exhibition on Teaching and Learning with ICT which took place in London from January 7 to January 8, 2004. This is the annual international event that encourages and extends effective use of ICT in education. BETT is the longest running, best-attended and most prestigious event in the educational ICT calendar. January 6th, 2004 Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended A World Seminar for Education Ministers ICT in Schools Moving Young Minds - a Global Perspective which was held in London from January 6 to January 7, 2004.
