Margrét S. Björnsdóttir

Margrét S. Björnsdóttir graduated from Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2002 with a MPA degree, she earlier held a masters degree in sociology (Diplom Soziologe) from Johan Wolfgang Goethe Universitaat in Frankfurt am Main. She is an adjunct lecturer in public administration and public leadership at The University of Iceland. She was earlier director of the University´s Continuning Education Institute, director of its Institute for Public Administration an Politics and director of Development and Communication in the University´s central administration. She is and has been chairman or member of boards of many public institutions and policy committees. She was assistant to Iceland´s Minister of Commerce and Industry and is presently chairman of the National Board of Iceland´s Social Democratic Party. She has through her life-long carrier at The University of Iceland been its representative in a number of European projects and associations. She is to day Iceland´s Research Council´s representative in the steering committee of the Nordic Baltic research fund/initiative; Citizen-Centric eGovernment Services. Through that, her time as director of The Institute for Public Administration and Politics, and as university lecturer, she has followed and contributed to discussions and education in the field of e-government and e-participation. Margrét is Honorary Consul of Nicaragua in Iceland.
