The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics. The Department is composed of 14 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, 4 research assistants, 1 research scientist and 1 administrative person. The Departmant also takes care for 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Wojciech Cellary. April 7th, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has completed his 8-days research visit in Taipei (Taiwan), which took place between 30 March - 6 April, 2008. Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to visit National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Central University, National Taiwan University, Institute for Information Industry, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., Industrial Technology Research Institute, Hsinchu Science Park, and Telcordia Applied Research Center. He had also the meetings at the National Palace Museum and at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The main goal of the visit was to lay the foundations for future possible research collaboration between Taipei significant research and education institutions and Poznan University of Economics. During these meetings prof. Cellary had presentations entitled "Research on software agents and virtual reality in the Department of Information Technology of the Poznan University of Economics".

March 19th, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working session of the "Poland 2000 Plus" Forecast Commitee affiliated with The Presidium of The Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. The main topic of the session was the future of mass media. Prof . Cellary had a speech "The Future of Mass Media".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary had an invited speech on Network Virtual Organizations during the Open Door Event promoting The Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy.

March 12th, 2008

The Department of Information Technology hosted Prof. Dr. Ruediger Grimm from IT Risk Management Department of Informatics University Koblenz-Landau. Prof. Grimm acquainted with research results of DIT's members. Prof. Grimm gave also an open lecture entitled "Digital Rights Management and Alternative Business Models for Virtual Goods".

Dr. Wojciech Wiza participated in a conference „Towards Modern Museum" held in Warsaw from March 6th to March 7th, 2008. During a session „New media in museum - exhibition, information, advertising" Dr. Wiza presented an ARCO virtual museum technology.

March 10th, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a conference „Microsoft Innovation Forum 2008". Prof. Cellary took part in a panel discussion "How to stimulate innovation processes in Poland". The conference was held in Warsaw.

February 22nd, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited lecture on new trends in teaching for participants of XII Education Fair "Education for Sustainable Development" which took place in Poznan from February 22nd to February 24th, 2008. The fair was organized by the Teacher Training Centre in Poznan and the Poznan International Fair.

Dr Krzysztof Walczak participated in a meeting of WG leaders of the European project INTUITION. The meeting was held in Brasov (Romania) from February 20th to February 21st, 2008.

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr.Chia-Hsiang Chang, General Director of Networks and Multimedia Institute of Institute for Information Industry (Taipei, Taiwan), Dr. Frank Tsai from Networks and Multimedia Institute of Institute for Information Industry, Dr. Marek Rusinkiewicz, Vice-President, Software and Application Research of Telcordia Technologies Inc. (New York, USA) and Dr. Russel Hsing, Executive Director of Wireless Technology and Systems, Telcordia Technologies Inc. During a seminar, Prof. Wojciech Cellary, Dr. Jarogniew Rykowski, Dr. Krzysztof Walczak and Dr. Wojciech Wiza presented current results of DIT's research activity.
