Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. October 18, 2016

Jakub Flotyński, PhD, received a research stipend from the Poznan City Council for outstanding achievements in research and publications in recognized international journals, and for receiving the Ph.D. degree with distinction. The stipend handed out The Mayor of the City of Poznań, Jacek Jaśkowiak.

October 16 - 18, 2016

Jarogniew Rykowski, PhD, participated as an invited expert in a third edition of „Workshop for Doctoral Students and Young Researchers in Information Technology”, organized in Kazimierz Dolny (Poland) by the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology. Prof. Rykowski served also as a member of Best Paper Award Committee.

On the occasion of The Commission of National Education Day the Rector of The Poznan University of Economics and Business conferred awards to:

  • Wojciech Cellary and Jarogniew Rykowski – The 1st Grade Team Achievement Award for outstanding achievements in research and publications in recognized international journals;
  • Jacek Chmielewski, Jakub Flotyński, Dariusz Rumiński, and Adam Wójtowicz – The 2nd Grade Team Achievement Award for outstanding achievements in research and publications in recognized international journals;
  • Jacek Chmielewski, Jarogniew Rykowski, and Krzysztof Walczak - The 1st Grade Team Achievement Award for creation and developing research laboratories under the project "Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Research PUEB- InnoUEP".


September 30, 2016

The Department of Information Technology once more participated in European Researchers' Night in Poznan. The event was organized as part of a project 2016EPICNIGHT, financed from the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020. All the events took place - simultaneously - on Friday 30 September, in over 250 cities across Europe and neighbouring countries. The Polish visitors had a chance to visit our Virtual Reality Laboratory.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a meeting of international experts of an European Commisssion AAL Programme (Active and Assisted Living Programme). The main objective of the workshop was to discuss the call text for the next call for proposals, planned for 2017. The workshop was hosted by Austrian Research Promotion Agency in Vienna (Austria).

Jarogniew Rykowski, Ph.D, attended The 5th International Conference on Wireless Sensor Networks WSN'2016, which took place in Gdańsk (Poland) from September 11 to September 14, 2016, under umbrella of The Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems FedCSIS 2016. During the WSN Conference Jarogniew Rykowski presented a paper entitled „Digital signing for short-message broadcasted traffic in BLE marketing channel”,

August 18 - 19, 2016

The Department of Information Technology hosted a research team from the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe – Institute of the Leibniz Association, Marburg (Germany), headed by Prof. Dr. Peter Haslinger. The main goal of the visit was to discuss a closer research cooperation between the Department of Information Technology and the Herder Institute.

Krzysztof Walczak, Ph.D, particpipated at The 43rd International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics & Interactive Techniques SIGGRAPH 2016, which took place in Anaheim, California, USA, from July 24 to July 28, 2016. SIGGRAPH is the world’s largest, most influential annual event in computer graphics and interactive techniques.

Krzysztof Walczak, Ph.D., attended an international conference The 21st Annual International Conference on 3D Web Technology ACM Web3D 2016, which was held at Anaheim, California, USA, from July 22 to July 24, 2016. Prof. Walczak served as a General Chair of the Web3D Conference. He served also as a moderator of the panel session „The Future of VR Web”, and he chaired a session entitled "Interactive 3D Applications". The ACM Web3D conference is a major event which unites researchers, developers, entrepreneurs, experimenters, artists and content creators in a dynamic learning environment. In recognition of the perfect organization of the conference Web3D 2016, the 2018 edition will be hosted by The Poznan University of Economics and Business, with Krzysztof Walczak as a General Chair as well.

Mr. Dariusz Rumiński was granted funding from The National Science Centre within recently concluded call for proposals ETIUDA 4. ETIUDA is a funding opportunity for doctoral scholarships aimed at young researchers preparing a doctoral thesis. In addition to receiving financial suport, awardees will obtain funding for the realisation of internships in excellent research institutions abroad, indicated in their proposals.
