The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. June 20, 2016

Jakub Flotyński, Ph.D, received a research stipend awarded by the City Council of Poznań for young scientists in recognition of their academic achievements in 2015. Jakub Flotyński was awarded for outstanding publications and distinguished doctoral thesis. The award giving ceremony will took place at the Poznan City Hall in October 2016.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended The 25th IEEE International Conference on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises WETICE’2016, which was held in Paris from June 13 to June 15, 2016. Prof. Cellary was invited to serve as a General Chair of the next 26. WETICE 2017 which will be hosted by Poznań University of Economics and Business, Poznań, Poland.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the Grand Gala of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, organized by the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers and the Polish Information Processing Society. In 2016 the event was focused on the theme: “ICT entrepreneurship for social impact”, in accordance with Resolution 68 and as endorsed by International Telecommunication Union Council 2015. This year the Grand Gala of the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day was combined with the celebrations of the 35th anniversary of the Polish Information Processing Society which has initiated IT events in Poland for many years.

Jarogniew Rykowski, Ph.D., attended The 12th Annual International Conference on Information Technology & Computer Science, which took place in Athens on 16 - 19 May, 2016. Jarogniew Rykowski chaired a session entitled "Cloud, Internet, Management Systems", he also presented a paper entitled „HCN: low-cost networking for DIY Internet of Things” during a session "Internet of Things, Industrial Internet, Smart Factory and Industry 4.0".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended Polish Logistics Congress LOGISTICS & EUROLOG 2016, which was held in Poznań (Poland), on 18 - 20, 2016. Prof. Cellary chaired a panel dicussion entitled "New concepts and trends in supply chain management".

Adam Wójtowicz, Ph.D, attended a conference “Research and Innovation in the area of security”, which was held on 10-12 May 2016 in Warsaw, Poland. The conference was organized by Polish Platform for Homeland Security and National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the European Union.

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Benjamin Gâteau, Senior R&D Engineer from Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), IT & Innovations Services Department. Dr. Gâteau has been working together with Jarogniew Rykowski, Ph.D, on the project GOLIATH „Goal Oriented Layered System for Interoperable Activities of Things”, realized jointly by PUE and LIST in the framework of the bilateral POLLUX II Program.

Krzysztof Walczak, Ph.D, Sergiusz Strykowski, Ph.D, and Jakub Flotyński, Ph.D., participated in a workshop organized in The German National Museum premises in Nuremberg by The Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe from Marburg and The Friedrich Alexander University from Nuremberg. The workshop was devoted to the international and interdisciplinary project “Digital 3D Reconstructions in Virtual Research Environments - the Web Portal: Palaces and Parks in Former East Prussia”.
