The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended a special session of the Program Council of The United Nations Global Compact Poland which took place in Warsaw in Ministry of Finance premises. The main topic of the session was a black economy in Poland.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited lecture entitled “Computer programming and digital education mean more than just a technique” to the participants of The 12th Conference of Scholar Computer Network Administrators, hold in Nowy Tomyśl n/Poznań. The conference was addressed to the teachers and scholar computer network administrators.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited lecture entitled "Cloud computing in co-operative banks" to the participants of the meeting of presidents of the Polish co-operative banks, organized in Poznań by The Polish Co-operatives Banks Group SGB.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended an international conference The 9th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance ICEGOV 2016, which took place in Montevideo (Uruguay) from 1 – 3 March, 2016, under the patronage of the Presidency of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay by the Agency for Electronic Government and Information Society and the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance, Information Society AGESIC and UNESCO. The conference took place under the theme “Transparent and Accountable Governance for 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda”. Prof. Cellary served as a member of ICEGOV Steering Committee, he gave also a keynote speech entitled "Big Data Analysis – a Challenge to Justice". During the conference Prof. Cellary chaired a session "Public Service Innovation", he also participated at a panel discussion "Big data era: better living and less freedom?". As a member of Steering Committee he participated at the closing session announcing the next ICEGOV 2017 in New Delhi (India).
On February 29, a day before the conference, prof. Cellary attended an Expert Group Meeting „Knowledge Societies and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda”, organized by UNESCO IFAP, UNU-EGOV and AGESIC.

Results of the 17th edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes were founded by the UEP Vice-Rector for Education and Students.The results were announced during the reward ceremony conducted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representative of the PUE autorities: Vice-Rector for Education and Students, prof. Jacek Mizerka and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, prof. Dorota Appenzeller. The First Prize went to the team Anna Brąszkiewicz i Katarzyna Chojnacka for a project Try – it.

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Rene Weller from University of Bremen, Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Group, headed by Prof. Gabriel Zachmann. On January 8th Dr. Weller presented a seminar on research areas of CVR Group. Dr. Weller gave also lectures on Multimedia in Business to the PUE students in the framework of Erasmus Program.

Mr. Jakub Flotyński defended successfuly his PhD thesis entitled “Semantic Modeling of Interactive 3D Content”, written under the supervision of Prof. Krzysztof Walczak. The public defence of the dissertation took place on December 8th, 2015 at the Gdańsk University of Technology, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics. The Faculty Council rewarded Mr. Flotyński’s dissertation with the highest grade Approved with Distinction.
