The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. July, 8 - 11 2013

A group of students called TapBoarders from the .NET Group Student Association was representing Poland in the word finals of the Imagine Cup 2013 competition. The team was presenting the project Multiboard and won the  AFT (App Fast Track) Excellence Award for the best applicaton working on Windows 8.

June 17 - 21, 2013

Dr. Adam Wójtowicz attended two international conferences: The 3rd International Workshop on Information Systems Security Engineering WISSE 2013. and The 25th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering CAISE 2013, which took place in Valencia (Spain)n June 17 - 21, 2013. During the WISSE conference dr. Wójtowicz presented a paper entitled „Security Model for Large Scale Content Distribution Applied to Federated Virtual Environments”. He served also as a “main discussant” to Christos Kalloniatis presenting a paper "Privacy in the Cloud: Bridging the Gap between Design and Implementation”.

June 19 - 20, 2013

Dr. Rafał Wojciechowski participated in The 16th International Conference on Business Information Systems BIS 2013, hosted this year by the Poznan University of Econmics. During the conference dr Wojciechowski presented a paper entitled “Conceptual Architecture of Knowledge Base for Administrative Procedure Execution” (authors: Strykowski, S., and R. Wojciechowski), published by Springer Verlag in "Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing”.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in The 8th Congress of the Electronic Economy organized in Warsaw by the Association of Polish Banks in cooperation with the Center for Banking Law and the Financial Information and the monthly "Bank". Prof. Cellary partcipated in a panel discussion: What the Ministry of Administration and Digitization and the Ministry of Economy did for electronic economy?

June 6 - 8, 2013

Mr. Jakub Flotyński attended The 6th International Conference on Human System Interaction HSI 2013, which was held in Sopot (Poland) on June 6 – 8, 2013. During the conference Jakub Flotyński presented a paper entitled “Harvesting of Semantic Metadata from Distributed 3D Web Content” recognized with The Best Paper Award in the field of Human Machine Interaction.

Willy Picard, PhD, attended an International School and Conference on Network Science NetSci 2013 which took place on June 3 – 7, 2013 at the Royal Library in Copenhagen, Denmark and the Technical University of Denmark. NetSci is the main conference gathering researchers interested and involved in network science.

Mr. Zbigniew Paszkiewicz attended an international conference Process Mining Camp 2013, which took place in Eindhoven (Netherlands). The conference is an one day event offering practice talks, keynote speeches and expedition workshops in the field of mining process.

Dr. Michał Wodczak gave an invited lecture “Resource Management in Cooperative Networking” to PhD students and young researchers attending Training School on Cooperative Communications, organized in Prague, May 21 – 23, 2013, by the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications in the framework of the Program COST IC1004 Action WG3 (Radio Network).

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended The 5th European Economic Congress “The Europe of growth. The future of the European economy", which took place in Katowice from May 13 to May 15, 2013. Prof. Cellary was invited to partipate in a session entitled "Telecommunications and Information Society".

May 8, 2013

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Benjamin Gâteau, Senior R&D Engineer at the Public Research Centre Henri Tudor in Luxembourg. During the visit Dr. Gâteau has been working together with Dr. Jarogniew Rykowski on a common proposal to be submitted in the framework of the POLLUX Program, launched by The National Research Fund (FNR) in Luxembourg and the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) in Poland.
