Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. The Department of Information Technology hosted Prof. Joseph E. Urban from Texas Tech University, Lubbock (Texas, USA). Prof. Urban gave an lecture entitled “The CyberCritical Project for Research and Education in Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure”  to the staff of the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Information Systems.

Jacek Chmielewski, PhD, attended The 3rd International Conference on Informatics Engineering and Information Science ICIEIS 2014, which was hel in Lodz (Poland) on September 22 - 24, 2014. During the conference Jacek Chmielewski presented a paper entitled “Comparative User Experience Analysis of PC Gaming and Cloud Gaming” (authors: Szmelich, L., and J. Chmielewski).

Mr. Daniel Wilusz participated in an international conference The Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems FedCSIS 2014, which was held in Warsaw on 7 - 10 September, 2014. Mr. Wilusz presented a paper entitled “Comparison of architectures for service management in IoT and sensor networks by means of OSGi and REST services” (authors: Wilusz, D., J. Rykowski).

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited to join the Scientific Advisory Board of the Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNIG).

Krzysztof Walczak, PhD, has been reelected as a member of the EuroVR Association Executive Committee. The European Association for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality EuroVR is a non-profit international, scientific Association designed to bring together all those interested in VR/AR Technologies and to pursue the development and further deployment of such technologies. The EuroVR Association was founded as a continuation of the INTUITION Network of Excellence ( EC FP6 NoE) to take up and expand the work initiated as a self-sustainable, independent organization.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited to join a Steering Committee of The United Nations Global Compact Network Poland. UN Global Compact is a platform for business and non-business entities to proactively network and engage in areas of human rights, labour, environment, anti-corruption and contributing to UN goals in order to achieve the common objectives of building a sustainable and inclusive global economy. The main objectives of the Steering Committee are to promote Global Compact and corporate social responsibility as well as to encourage companies to accept and put into practice the principles of Global Compact. The Steering Committee also implements joint projects to solve specific problems in various social areas.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended The 2nd International Conference on The Human Side of Service Engineering HSSE 2014, which took place in Kraków (Poland) from July 19 to July 23, 2014, under The 5th International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics AHFE 2014 umbrella. Prof. Cellary served as a General Co-Chair of the HSSE 2014 Conference.

Mr. Dariusz Rumiński participated in The 5th International Conference on Information, Intelligence, Systems and Applications IISA 2014, which took place in Chania Crete (Greece) from July 7 to July 9, 2014. During the conference Mr. Rumiński presented a paper entitled „Composing Augmented Reality Scene with the CARL Language” (authors: Rumiński, D., K. Walczak).
