Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. February 21 - 25, 2010

Mirosław Stawniak and Adam Wojtowicz participated in The 1st Doctoral Conference on Computing, Electrical and Industrial Systems DoCEIS'10, which took place in Lisbon (Portugal). Mr. Stawniak presented a paper entitled  “Method TSTS for Cultural Heritage Searching”, and Mr. Wojtowicz presented a paper “Representing User Privileges in Object-Oriented Virtual Reality Systems”.

February 19 - 22, 2010

The Department of Information Technology hosted prof. Joseph E. Urban from Texas Tech University. Prof. Urban gave an open lecture entitled Challenges of Software Development for all PUE students and staff in a framework of the Open Lectures Program. During the visit prof. Urban acquainted with DIT current research areas.

February 17, 2010

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inaugural lecture entitled “Economic and Societal Significance of Investment in Teleinformatics” for attendees of the regional conference “Opole Region: Challenges and Chances of e-Development 2010 – 2015”. Prof. Cellary also participated in a panel discussion on e-priorities for Opole Region.

Dr Krzysztof Walczak participated in a kick-off meeting of the European project entitled  European Resource Centre for Web2.0 Education (Web 2.0 ERC) financed by European Commission in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Program. The meeting took place in Paisley (Scottland).

Results of the 11th edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes (Notebooks Asus Eee PC 1005HA, iPods Touch 2Gen 16GB, iPods Touch Nano 4gen 8GB) were founded by Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., the main sponsor of the contest. The results were announced during the reward ceremony hosted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representatives of sponsors, and the vice-rector for Science and International Relations, prof. Maciej Zukowski and the vice-dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, prof. Dorota Appenzeller. The First Prize went to a team Karol Drapala and Adam Fratczak for a project entitled Urban Gallery. .

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended a conference organized in Warsaw by The "Poland 2000 Plus" Forecast Committee affiliated with the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Science. The main topic of the conference was public-private partnership in Poland and in European Union.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invted lecture entitled „What is the difference between a science and no-science – how to write a good  PhD and habilitation thesis” for researchers of The Faculty of Informatics of The Technical University of Szczecin.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been nominated President of the Council for Informatization, an advisory body to the Minister of the Interior and Administration, for years 2010-2011.

November 19-20, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 5th Ministerial eGovernment Conference 2009 "Teaming up for the e-Union" which was organized in Malmoe under Swedish Presidency and European Commission. Prof. Cellary attended the conference as a member of Polish Delegation. He was invited by Minister of the Interior and Administration to assist the Polish team as an expert on e-government and knowledge based-society.
