The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited to be a member of the International Program Committee (IPC) for the IASTED International Conference on Internet and Multimedia Systems and Applications (EuroIMSA 2009), which is to take place in Cambridge, United Kingdom from July 13, 2009 to July 15, 2009.

December 5th, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 2nd International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance ICEGOV 2008 which was held in Cairo (Egypt) from December 1st to December 4th, 2008. Prof. Cellary served as a General Chair of the conference, he gave also a tutorial entitled "Strategic Impact of e-Governance on Economy and Society. Prof. Cellary chaired also a session during Workshop Electronic Governance - Value.

November 28th, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a biennial ICT Event 2008: "I" is to the Future (formerly called the "IST Event"), the most important forum for discussing research and public policy in information and communication technologies at European level. The conference took place in Lyon (France) from November 24 to 28, 2008. The ICT Event is organised by the European Commission's Directorate General for the Information Society and Media and is usually hosted by the current Presidency of the European Union. Prof. Cellary participated in the ICT 2008 as an invited member of Polish delegation.

Dr. Jacek Chmielewski participated in The 10th International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services iiWAS 2008 held in conjunction with The 6th International Conference on Adavances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia MoMM 2008, which took place in Linz (Austria) from November 24 to 26, 2008. Dr. Chmielewski presented a paper entitled "Interaction Interfaces for Unrestricted Multimedia Interaction Descriptions".

November 22nd, 2008

The Department of Information Technology has organized one-day training devoted to the Conveyor v.2 software, an economical and simple-to-use multimedia authoring system for museum exhibitions, designed in the framework of the MM4ALL Project financed by European Commission Program CULTURE 2000. The training was conducted by Nicolas Tyson from The Brunswick Town Charitable Trust and Dr. Wojciech Wiza from DIT. The trainig was addressed to the staff of The National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa, Polish History Museum in Warsaw and Poznan Archaeological Museum.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to serve as a Program Committee member of  The 8th Wuhan International Conference on E-Business WHICEB 2009, which will be held in Wuhan, China, May 30-31, 2009.

November 8th, 2008

Dr. Jarogniew Rykowski participated in the 8th International Conference on Transport - Systems - Telematics TST 2008, which was held in Katowice-Ustron, Poland, from November 5th to November 8th, 2008. During the conference dr Rykowski presented a paper "CB-NET – nowa sieć publicznej drogowej komunikacji radiowej".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to serve as a keynote speaker at the 1st Symposium on Business Informatics in Central and Eastern Europe which will take place in Vienna within February 25-27, 2009, in conjunction with the 9th International Business Informatics Conference.

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in The 14th International Conference on Virtual Systems and MultiMedia VSMM’08, which was held in Limassol (Cyprus) within October 20-25, 2008. Dr. Walczak presented a paper entitled "VR-BML: Behaviour Modelling Language for Configurable VR Applications", which received the 2nd Best Full Paper Award. Dr. Walczak also chaired two plenary sessions: "Image Analysis and Reconstruction" and "ICT in CH Museums". Dr. Walczak participated - as a member - in a working meeting of the Board of The International Society on Virtual Systems and Multimedia VSMM.

Dr, Wojciech Wiza participated in the INTUITION Knowledge Base Meeting which was held in Malaga (Spain) from October 21st to October 22nd, 2008. "Knowledge Base" is a wiki-based website, providing a place for the virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) commmunity to gather and exchange information and knowledge. This has been developed by the network of excellence on virtual reality and virtual environments for future workplaces (INTUITION).
