The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. March 27th, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working meeting of the partners of the project entitled "IT-SOA - New information technologies for electronic economy and information society based on Service-oriented Architecture", realized by IT-SOA Consortium. The meeting was hosted by AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow.

March 15-22th, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited to visit the International Institute for Software - Center for Electronic Governance of the United Nations University in Macao (China). During the visit Prof. Cellary gave an invited lecture "Economic Dilemma of the Knowledge-Based Economy" for UNU IIST staff. He gave also a lecture entitled "Strategic Impact of e-Government on Economy and Society" for representatives of the government in Macao. The main goal of the visit was to establish close research relationships between UNU IIST and PUE.

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak served as a lecturer during a seminar "How to become an independent expert for European Commission?" organized by the National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU and Poznan University of Economics. During his lecture Dr. Walczak shared with participants his experience as an independent expert evaluating projects submitted to 7FP.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited lecture "Innovation and transfer of technology" to the executive staff of the Poznan City Hall.

March 4-6th, 2009

Dr Wojciech Wiza was invited as a visiting researcher to the Centre for VLSI and Computer Graphics in the School of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Sussex. During the visit Dr Wiza participated in a kick-off meeting launching a project entitled "Reanimating Cultural Heritage: Digital Repatriation, Knowledge Networks and Civil Society Strengthening in Post-conflict Sierra Leone".

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in a working meeting of a consortium created by 11 Polish scientific institutions and museums in order to submit together a project entitled "Individual, interactive, computer-supported visitor guiding system for the Wilanow Palace Museum"in the framework of the Innovative Economy Operational Programme 2007-2013. The meeting took place in Wilanow Palace Museum.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inauguration lecture entitled "New trends in teaching using electronic ways" during a conference "e-School Wielkopolska 2009", organized in Poznan by the Adam Mickiewicz Uniwersity and Fundation for Computer Education.

Results of the 10th jubilee edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes (notebooks Asus Eee PC 900, Smartphones Asus P320, iPods Touch 2gen8GB and MP4s Eon Cineo8) were founded by sponsors: Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. and eXant Software Polska. The results were announced during the reward ceremony hosted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representatives of sponsors, Mr. Milosz Brakoniecki, Mr. Damian Ludke, Mr. Piotr Jeske (Bank Zachodni WBK S.A.), Mr. Jakub Hakało (eXant Software Polska), and the Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations, Prof. Maciej Żukowski, and prof. Dorota Appenzeller, vice-dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The First Prize went to a team Rafał Kędzierski and Marcin Kos, the Second Prize went to Sławomir Leszczyński and Dominik Modrzejewsk,  and the Third Prize went to a team Krzysztof Wrzesiński i Maciej Żytkowiak.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a conference "Knowledge Based Society - Myth or Chance for Poland" which was held in Warsaw in Polish Parliament premises. Prof. Cellary chaired a panel discussion on the role of public administration.
