Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. May 19th, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a debate of experts and representatives of academia and industry leaders. The debate was organized by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw. The debate was devoted to the Report „Poland 2030” prepared by the Team of Stategic Advisors to the Prime Minister.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary paticipated in celebrations of the World Information Society Day (WISD), organised by Polish Information Processing Society/ PIPS in co-operation with numerous public administration institutions, the world of science, corporations and non-governmental organisations. UNESCO, UNITED NATIONS and International Telecommunication Union/ ITU offered their Honourable Auspices for the celebrations of the World Information Society Day 2008 in Poland; and the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Mr Grzegorz Schetyna.

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in Brussels – as an independent expert of European Commission – in a working session evaluating projects submitted to the 7 Framework Program (FP7-ICT-2009-4).

Dr. Wojciech Wiza participated in the International Conference on Electronic Imaging & the Visual Arts EVA 2009, which was held from April 28th to April 30th in Florence. Dr Wiza presented results of the European Project MM4ALL realized by the Department od Information Technology in the framwork of the Program of European Commission CULTURE 2000.

Mr. Adam Wojtowicz was invited to visit The Malbork Castle Museum. Mr. Wojtowicz presented to the Museum staff an ARCO system for virtual museum exhibitions.

The Department of Information Technology and the National Museum of Agriculture in Szreniawa n/Poznan organized a conference "Multimedia Museum MMM 2009". The conference was organized in the framework of the project Multimedia for All (MM4ALL) - European Program CULTURE 2000. Dr. Wojciech Wiza served as a General Chair of the conference, Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inaugurational lecture "Multimedia Museums - Virtual Exposition - Real Culture", and Dr. Krzysztof Walczak gave a lecture "Creatin Virtual Exhibitions using ARCO System". Dr. Nick Tyson from The Regency Town House, MM4ALL project coordinator, presented a lecture entitled "Conveyor System for Multimedia Displays". <

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inaugural lecture for participants of V Days of Academic Entrepreneurship. The event was held in Poznan from April 21 to April 23, 2009.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited to join the Council of the Global Librairies Program for Poland, realized in the framework of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inaugural lecture "New trends in teaching using electronic tools" during a Conference of School Networks Managers, which was held in Nowy Tomysl n/Poznan. He also participated in a panel discussion on new trends in XXI century education.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a conference inaugurating European Year of Creativity and Innovation which was held in Warsaw. Prof. Cellary gave a lecture "Economic Aspect of Innovation".
