The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 2 full professor, 2 associate professors, 2 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 4 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. In 2016 the Department of Information Technology celebrated 20 year anniversary of its set up.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Information Technology is to contribute to the development of the e-economy, which is understood as an economy where business processes are realized through computer and communication networks. The e-economy requires both new information technologies and new business models. DIT is involved with the development of both with an emphasis on technology, as the DIT research staff has technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The integration of computer science and management science is a challenge for the development of e-business. DIT is involved in seeking solutions to this challenge.
