Prof. Krzysztof Walczak particpated as an independent expert of European Commission in an evaluation of proposals submitted to FP 7 Objective 1.6 ICT - Connected and Social Media, Call 10. The session took place in Brussels in EC premises.

Wojciech Wiza, Ph.D, attended an international conference The 10th IASTED International Conference on Web-based Education WBE 2013, which was held in Insbruck (Austria). During a tutorial entitled “Applying Web 2.0 Tools in Education and the Work Place", prepared by a team of partners of an European project Ed2.0 Work, Dr Wiza gave a presentation "Exploring the concept of Web 2.0". During the conference the partners of the Ed2.0 Work project participated also in a formal partners meeting.

Mr. Jakub Flotyński participated in The 1st International Conference on Building and Exploring Web Based Environments, which was held in Sevilla (Spain). Jakub Flotyński presented a paper entitled „Describing Semantics of 3D Web Content with RDFa” (authors: J. Flotyński, and K. Walczak).

zlota myszResults of the 14th edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes were founded by Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., the main sponsor of the contest. The results were announced during the reward ceremony hosted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representatives of sponsors, and the Vice-Rector for Education and Students, prof. Jacek Mizerka and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, prof. Dorota Appenzeller. The First Prize went to Grzegorz Tomkowiak for a projekt entitled "Schoolwars".

January 7 - 11, 2013

Dr. Jacek Chmielewski has been on one week secondment at the Fraunhofer FOKUS Competence Center for Future Media and Applications in Berlin in the framework of the European Project UNITE (Upgrading ICT excellence by strengthening cooperation between research teams in an enlarged Europe). The secondment granted the Institute for the Development of New Technologies UNINOVA (Portugal) as a principal coordinator of the project, which envisages the mobility of researchers to a foreign host organization.

The Council of the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the Wroclaw University of Technology launched Dr. Willy Picard's habilitation procedure upon his habilitation dissertation entitled "Adaptation of Service Protocols".

Mr. Daniel Wilusz, PhD student, participated in The 5th International Conference Central European Electronic Card – Payment, Security, Mobility CEEC 2012. The conference was organized in the format of information and education and training event by Polish Banks Association under auspices of Council of Bank Cards Editors, Ministry of Economy, National Bank of Poland, National Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunications, Polish Chamber of Commerce, Polish Chamber of Information and Telecommunications, Polish Information Processing Society, Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data and Polish Committee for Standardization.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary, prof. Jarogniew Rykowski, and PhD students Mateusz Smektalski and Daniel Wilusz participated in an international conference “A Young Researcher's Perspective on the Main Economics Issues IntereconoMIX” hosted by the Poznan University of Economics. Mr. Daniel Wilusz served as a member of Steering Committee, Mr. Mateusz Smektalski presented a paper “A new method of planning an optimum allocation of an enterprise in urban area”. Prof. Jarogniew Rykowski chaired a session „Innovation Economy”. During the final session prof. Cellary gave an invited speech on new trends in computer science.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in an international conference The 21st Global Forum 2012 – Shaping a Connected Digital Future: Visions, Challenges, Opportunities for Organizations and People in a Smart World, which took place in Stockholm (Sweden). The Global Forum 2012 was organized by Swedish governmental organizations: VINNOVA, Items International, The Sophia Antipolis Foundation, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and the City of Stockholm. During a session "New Usages: For Privacy and Security?" Prof. Cellary gave a lecture entitled „Privacy in Light of Future Information Technologies”.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Mr. Zbigniew Paszkiewicz participated in The 6th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance ICEGOV 2012 - Open Innovation for Global Change, which took place in Albany (USA). Prof. Cellary served as an International Steering Committee member and Program Committee member of the conference ICEGOV 2012. During the session „IT Governance and Policy” Mr. Zbigniew Paszkiewicz presented a paper „Computer Supported Contractor Selection for Public Administration Ventures” (authors: Paszkiewicz, Z., and W. Cellary). Prof. Cellary participated as a invited panelist during a plenary session "City Center: Smart Innovation for Sustainable Urban Growth and Development". Prof. Cellary conducted also a special Doctoral Colloquium for young researchers. He presented an invited lecture entitled „What is the difference between science and non-science, or how to produce a proper doctoral thesis”. During the Closing Session Prof. Cellary gave a final speech "ICEGOV 2012 - Summary and Impressions".
