Mr. Jakub Flotyński, M.Sc., participated at The 18th International Conference on Business Information Systems BIS 2015 – Making Big Data Smarter, which was held in Poznan (Poland), June 24 – 26, 2015. During a session on Semantic Technologies, Mr. Flotyński presented a paper titled “Ontology-Based Creation of 3D Content in a Service-Oriented Environment” (authors: Walczak, K., J. Flotyński).

Prof. Krzysztof Walczak attended The 20th ACM SIGGRAPH International Conference on 3D Web Technology, which was held in Heraklion (Greece), June 18 – 21, 2015. During the conference prof. Walczak presented a paper titled “Semantic Query-based Generation of Customized 3D Scenes” (authors: Walczak, K., J. Flotyński) rewarded with The Web3D Best Paper Award for quality of the written and oral presentation. The nomination for this award comes from conference chairs and co-chairs.

The focus of the 5th FOKUS Media Web Symposium was on „Web of the Future for the Creative Industry – Technologies, Tools, Standards“. The symposium offered the latest insights in Connected TV, Web Technologies, Internet of Things, Streaming Media and Multiscreen Solutions.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended a conference on Digital Single Market Strategy, which was held in Warsaw, with participation of Vice-President of European Commission Andrus Ansip, who gave a keynote speech on EU strategy for building a Digital Single Market in Europe. During the conference prof. Cellary served as a moderator of the session entitled “European Digital Market vs. Economy”.

Jakub Flotyński, M.Sc., has been awarded a scholarship by Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst DAAD for research and study in a German research institution. The DAAD scholarships are awarded by selection committees comprising a panel of independent academics. The host institution for Mr. Flotyński is Fraunhofer-Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung Darmstadt.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended The 4th Forum of Banking Security organized in Warsaw by The Banking Law and Information Center, under the auspices of The Polish Banks Association, National Security Bureau and the Central Bank of the Republic of Poland. During a session devoted to technologies and technical solutions for maintenance and security management in banks prof. Cellary presented a lecture entitled “A betrayal as a key weapon in a cyber war”.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended The 7th European Economic Congress in Katowice, the largest business event in Central Europe. Prof. Cellary was invited to chair a session “Digital Agenda for Europe – European Digital Single Market” devoted to following topics: main objectives of the DAE and the state of their implementation, the development of ICT and their significance for the global competitiveness of the European economy, a call for a single digital market, key investments and potential benefits to the economy, and funds intended for the implementation of particular actions that serve to complete the Agenda.
