Results of the 17th edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes were founded by the UEP Vice-Rector for Education and Students.The results were announced during the reward ceremony conducted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representative of the PUE autorities: Vice-Rector for Education and Students, prof. Jacek Mizerka and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, prof. Dorota Appenzeller. The First Prize went to the team Anna Brąszkiewicz i Katarzyna Chojnacka for a project Try – it.

January 4 - 15, 2016

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Rene Weller from University of Bremen, Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Group, headed by Prof. Gabriel Zachmann. On January 8th Dr. Weller presented a seminar on research areas of CVR Group. Dr. Weller gave also lectures on Multimedia in Business to the PUE students in the framework of Erasmus Program.

December 15, 2015

Mr. Jakub Flotyński defended successfuly his PhD thesis entitled “Semantic Modeling of Interactive 3D Content”, written under the supervision of Prof. Krzysztof Walczak. The public defence of the dissertation took place on December 8th, 2015 at the Gdańsk University of Technology, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics. The Faculty Council rewarded Mr. Flotyński’s dissertation with the highest grade Approved with Distinction.

Jarogniew Rykowski, PhD, attended an international conference The 8th International Conference on Central European Electronic Card CEEC 2015, which was held in Warsaw, December 3 – 4, 2015, under the patronage of the National Bank of Poland, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, the Polish Bank Association. During the conference prof. Rykowski presented a paper entitled „Payments in the Internet of Things”.

November 5 - 6, 2015

Jarogniew Rykowski, PhD, participated at an international conference The 2nd World Conference on Intelligent Building Technology and Multimedia Management IBTMM 2015, which took place in Cracow (Poland). During the conference prof. Rykowski presented a paper entitled „Trusted Geolocation Beacon” (authors: Rykowski, J., M., Nomańczuk). He chaired also a Second Plenary Session on Smart Cities.

November 1 - 3, 2015

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended an international conference The 16th International Conference on Web Information System Engineering WISE 2015, which was held in Miami (Florida, USA) from November 1st to November 3rd, 2015. Prof. Cellary served as a Program Co-Chair, he also chaired a session entitled "Web Information Extraction". Prof. Cellary served on a jury of WISE Best Paper Award. He awarded the winners on behalf of the jury at a gala dinner.

October 17 - 18, 2015

Jarogniew Rykowski, PhD, participated as an invited expert in "2nd Workshop for Doctoral Students and Young Researchers in IT", organized in Kazimierz Dolny by Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology, addressed to current PhD students, recipients of the Diamond Grants of Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and young researchers involved in IT research towards their PhD degree.

October 15 - 16, 2015

Rafał Wojciechowski, Ph.D. attended an international conference The 12th EuroVR Conference 2015, which took place in Lecco (Italy), October 15 - 16, 2015. During the conference Rafał Wojciechowski presented a paper entitled "Distributed Architecture of Secure Semantic AR Services" (authors: Wójtowicz, A., R. Wojciechowski, K. Walczak and D. Rumiński. The EuroVR is the European Association for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, an international non-profit association designed to bring together all those interested in VR/AR technologies and to pursue the development and further deployment of such technologies.

During a ceremony of PUE PhD’s promotion the Rector, prof. Marian Gorynia, conferred Rector Awards for outstanding achievements in academic year 2014/2015. The recipients are:
Prof. Wojciech Cellary – 1st Grade Team Achievement Award for impact of his work in PUE team developing The Educational Center of Electronic Services;

Adam Wójtowicz, Ph.D. – 2nd Grade Individual Achievement Award for outstanding achievements in research and publications in recognized international journals;

Krzysztof Walczak, PhD, Jakub Flotyński, M.Sc., Dariusz Rumiński, M.Sc. – 2nd Grade Team Achievement Award for outstanding achievements in research and publications in recognized international journals;

Sergiusz Strykowski, Ph.D.
– 2nd Grade Team Achievement Award for creative activity in a PUE Team for International Accreditations.

Willy Picard, PhD, participated in an international conference The 16th IFIP Working Conference on Virtual Enterprises PRO-VE 2015, which took place in Albi (France) from October 5 to October 7, 2015 Dr. Willy Picard served as a Program Committee Co-Chair of the conference. During a session entited “Agility and Resilience in Collaborative Networks” Dr. Picard presented a paper „Resilient and Robust Human-Agent Collectives: a Network Perspective”. He served as a chair of the session entitled “Collaboration Frameworks”. Dr. Picard attended as a founder member The 2015 SOCOLNET General Assembly, coinciding with PRO-VE conference. He participated in a special session on Future Trends in Collaborative Networks.
