Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invted lecture entitled „What is the difference between a science and no-science – how to write a good  PhD and habilitation thesis” for researchers of The Faculty of Informatics of The Technical University of Szczecin.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been nominated President of the Council for Informatization, an advisory body to the Minister of the Interior and Administration, for years 2010-2011.

November 19-20, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 5th Ministerial eGovernment Conference 2009 "Teaming up for the e-Union" which was organized in Malmoe under Swedish Presidency and European Commission. Prof. Cellary attended the conference as a member of Polish Delegation. He was invited by Minister of the Interior and Administration to assist the Polish team as an expert on e-government and knowledge based-society.  

November 9-16, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in The 3rd International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance ICEGOV 2009, which took place in Bogota (Columbia) from November 10th to November 13th, 2009. Prof. Cellary served as an Advisory Committee Member. During the conferene he gave a full tutorial entitled "e-Economy - Applications of Electronic Governance".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary obtained the Individual Award of the Rector of the Poznan University of Economics for achievments in teaching , research and organizational activity.

October 6-8, 2009

Dr. Jacek Chmielewski participated in The 1st International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Information Retrieval KDIR 2009, which took place in Funchal - Madeira (Portugal). During the conference dr. Chmielewski presented a paper entitled "Building Extensible 3D Interaction Metadata with Interaction Interface Concept".

The Department of Information Technology hosted on October 5-7, 2009 the 10th International Conference on Web Information Systems Engineering WISE 2009. The aim of this tenth edition of the conference series on Web Information Systems Engineering was to provide an international forum for researchers, professionals, and industrial practitioners to share their knowledge in the rapidly growing area of Web technologies, methodologies and applications. During the conference about 50 papers were presented by authors comming from 17 countries from all over the world. We had 15 scientific sessions, 3 keynote speeches, 3 tutorials, 2 industrial sessions, 1 panel and 1 special session. More details can be found at http://wise2009.ue.poznan.pl/.

October 6-9, 2009

Dr. Willy Picard, Zbigniew Paszkiewicz and Jan Świerzowicz participated in the 10th IFIP Working Conference on Virtual Entreprises PRO-VE 2009, which took place in Thessaloniki (Greece) on October 6-9, 2009. During the conference Zbigniew Paszkiewicz presented two papers: “Modeling Virtual Organization Architecture with the Virtual Organization Breeding Methodology" (authors: Picard, W., Z. Paszkiewicz) and "Reference Model for Performance Management in Service-Oriented Virtual Organization Breeding Environments" (authors: Picard, W., Z Paszkiewicz), dr. Willy Picard presented a paper entitled “Social Protocols for Agile Virtual Teams” (author: Picard, W.), and Jan Świerzowicz presented a paper “Social Requirements for Virtual Organization Breeding Environments” (authors: Picard, W., J. Świerzowicz). This paper received the 2nd Best Ph.D Paper Award.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary obtained a Commission of National Education Medal conferred by Minister of National Education to teachers for outstanding merit in the field of education.

July 1-3, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary, Dr. Jarogniew Rykowski, Dr. Willy Picard, Dr. Sergiusz Strykowski, Zbigniew Paszkiewicz and Jan Świerzowicz participated in a working seminar on "ITSOA - New information technologies for electronic economy and information society based on service-oriented architecture" project, currently developped in Department of Information Technology. The seminar took place in Szklarska Poreba. The goal of the project is to exploit modern information technologies from the area of distributed systems. Such techologies, based on the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm, support computerized business process management as well as development of service platforms and IT infrastructure for e-Science.
