December 20th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a conference organized by the Ministry of Regional Development summing up the social consultations on the Operational Program Innovative Economy 2007-2013 in the framework of the National Cohesion Strategy 2007-2013.

December 15th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a didactic conference on courses and curricula modeling at the Poznan University of Economics.

December 13th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Tax Administration - Modern, Effective and Friendly which was organized by the Ministry of Finance in Warsaw from December 12th to December 13th, 2006. Prof. Cellary was a member of the Scientific Committee of the conference. He participated also in a panel discussion on how the tax administration could be more friendly to our citizens.

October 30th, 2006 Dr Sergiusz Strykowski participated in the workshop on UNDERSTAND Project. The UNDERSTAND Project (European Regions UNDER way towards STANDard indicators for benmarching Information Society) is financed by the European Regional Development Fund INTERREG III C (Community initiative on interregional co-operation across the entire EU territory and neighbouring countries). October 19th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working session of Scientific Council of the GET (Grandes Ecoles des Telecommunications) which was held in Paris on October 19th, 2006. GET's mission lies in higher education, research and continuing training in the field of information and communication science and technology. It is a public administrative institution placed under the aegis of the French Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.

October 16th, 2006 Dr Jarogniew Rykowski participated in the International Conference Structural funds for supporting R&D on mobile communications in the New Member States and Acceding and Candidate Countries which took place in Warsaw on October 16th, 2006. The conference was organized by the Polish Platform on Mobile Communications and Wireless Technologies MOST.

October 13th, 2006 Dr Jarogniew Rykowski and Mr. Grzegorz Wojciechowski participated in The 6th IFIP International Conference on e-Commerce, e-Business and e-Government I3E 2006 which took place in Turku (Finland) from October 11th to October 13th, 2006. October 5th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to join a Program Committee of the Doctoral College Role of Higher Education in Knowledge-based Society Development. The College is established by the Institute of Knowledge Society, a research institution set up by Polish Rectors Foundation. The mission of the Institute is to carry out analytical studies and research work on the system of higher education and scientific research, and on educational, scientific and innovation policy of the State.

September 29th, 2006 Dr Willy Picard was invited to give an invited lecture during the 1st ECOLEAD Summer School on Collaborative Networks held in Helsinki (Finland) from September 28th to September 29th, 2006. The ECOLEAD Summer School was associated with PRO-VE 2006 Conference. Dr Picard gave a lecture Social Protocols in Professional Virtual Communities. ECOLEAD (European Collaborative networked Organizations LEADership initiative)is an Integrated Project co-funded by the European Commission within 6th Framework Programme. September 27th, 2006 Dr Willy Picard participated in The 7th IFIP Working Conference on Virtual Entreprise PRO-VE 2006 which took place in Helsinki (Finland) from September 25th to September 27th, 2006. September 25th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference e-Poland for Everyone - a Role of School which took place in Warsaw on September 25th, 2006. The conference was organized in the framework of the Inter@klasa Program under the patronage of Danuta Hubner, UE Commissioner for Regional Policy. Prof. Cellary presented a project e-Poland for Everyone aiming to help young people entrepreneurship.

September 19th, 2006 Mr. Jacek Chmielewski was invited as a Charles Simonyi Fellow to attend the two day symposium Grand Challenges in Informatics, which was held in Budapest (Hungary) from September 19th to September 20th, 2006. The symposium was organized by Academia Europaea, Charles Simonyi, and John von Neumann Computer Society. During the symposium participants from more than 20 European countries discussed research activities in the areas of Verified Software, Quantum Computing, Biocomputing and Computer Mathematics.

September 19th, 2006 The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Marek Podgorny, President of CollabWorx Inc., Syracuse NY (USA). Dr. Podgorny participated in an internal seminar presenting the results of scientific research of the DIT.

August 25th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the The World Computer Congress organized under the auspices of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). The Congress took place in Santiago de Chile from August 20 to August 25, 2006. The main organizer of the Congress was The Chilean Computer Science Society (SCCC). The WCC'2006 is the most important event dedicated to the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). More than 2000 delegates, coming from more than 70 different countries, debated the main questions and perspectives in ICT domain. During the Congress took place 11 different conferences (among others Conference on Education for 21st Century and Impact of ICT and Digital Ressources, Conference on the Past and Future of Information Systems, Conference on Theoretical Computer Science), 5 workshops, and working meetings of IFIP Technical Committee TC6 Working Groups. August 1st, 2006 Dr Sergiusz Strykowski participated in the workshop organized by the Marshal's Office of the Wielkopolska Region in Poznan. The workshop was devoted to the evaluation of the state of information society development in Wielkopolska Region. During the conference the participants worked out SWOT analysis for the Wielkopolska Region in order to help public discussion on the information society development.

July 27th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to join the Board of Patrons and the Team of Experts supporting a project Poland for Youth, an initiative of the Collegium Cogitantium, an association founded by students of the Tischner European University in Cracow. July 10th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working session of the Working Group of experts evaluating a draft of the Innovative Economy Operational Program. The document aims to increase the economy's innovativeness by making several things happen: by ensuring that there are personnel for a modern economy; by focusing research to meet the economy's needs; by mobilizing private capital to create and develop innovative companies; by increasing the use of intellectual property in the economy; and, finally, by strengthening the National Innovation System. July 3rd, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference organized by the Ministry of Regional Development in Warsaw, introducing a draft version of a document entitled Strategy for Increasing the Innovativeness of the Economy for 2007-2013 in the framework of the Innovative Economy and Human Capital Operational Programs. During the conference Prof. Cellary served as a discussion moderator. He was also invited to join a team of experts of the Innovative Economy Operational Program.

June 29th, 2006 Dr Krzysztof Walczak participated in the working meeting of the partners of the European project INTUITION which was held in Stuttgart (Germany).

June 8th, 2006 Results of the seventh edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest is addressed to the 1st year Management Faculty students of Poznan University of Economics. The purpose of the contest is to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. This year students could work in two-person teams as well as independently. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, quality of design, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation. The prizes (digital camera Canon PowerShot S2 IS, iPod`s, Internet cameras, and 1GB Flash memories) were founded by Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., the main sponsor of the contest. The results were announced during the reward ceremony hosted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representatives of sponsors, the vice-president of the university, Prof. Marian Gorynia, the dean of the Management Faculty, Prof. Henryk Sobolewski, and the president of the Poznan University of Economics Foundation, Prof. Emil Panek. The First Prize went to Piotr Piechota for a project called viaTransmit, the Second Prize went to a team Karol Szeptycki and Marcin Olejnik for Agronetinfo project, and the Third Prize went to a team Karolina Gielniak and Magdalena Smelczy?ska for SMS Voting System. Prof. Cellary participated in a panel dicussion devoted to the assessment criteria and attributes of a doctoral dissertation in economics. Prof. Cellary published in the conference proceedings a paper entitled Methodology of Economics - A Point of Vue of an Engineer.

May 17th, 2006 Dr Wojciech Wiza gave a serie of lectures on Applications of Multimedia in Business and Virtual Reality to the students of The National Institute of Telecommunications INT, in Evry (France), in the framework of the SOCRATES ERASMUS Programme.

May 10th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Modern Computer Systems for Small and Medium-sized Entreprises which was held in Poznan from May 10th to May 11th, 2006. Prof. Cellary presented an inauguration speech entitled Virtual Network Organizations for SMEs.

May 9th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary had a dinner speech during the banquet opening The Polish Logistics Congress LOGISTICS 2006 held in Poznan. The dinner speech was entitled Internet of Things.

May 7th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and 9 students of Electronic Business specialization participated in a seminar organized in Potsdam (Germany) jointly by The Department of Information Technology and The Muenster School of Business Administration and Economics of The Muenster University. The seminar was devoted to a new generation of www services called Web 2.0 and its impact on electronic business. Polish and German students had short presentations followed by discussions.

April 27th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working session of the Task Force Committee "Poland in European Union" at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

April 27th, 2006 Dr Krzysztof Walczak participated in the working meeting of the partners of the INTUITION project. The meeting took place at CLARTE premises in ESIEA engineers' school in Laval (France) from April 25th to April 27th.

April 20th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Student Entrepreneurship Days held in Poznan from April 19th to April 20th, 2006. Prof. Cellary had a talk entitled Global Information Society.

April 6th, 2006 The Student Interest Group on Electronic Business (KNEB) organized on April 6th a public debate on e-University. Students invited to the panel discussion the representatives of PUE authorities, Prof. Marian Gorynia, Vice Rector for Scientific Research and International Relations, Prof. Marek Ratajczak, Vice Rector for Development and Personnel Advancement, prof. Krzysztof Malaga, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Prof. Wojciech Cellary, head of The Department of Information Technology. The participants discussed following aspects of the Internet-based higher education opportunities: distance education programs, electronic administration systems, assessment online, electronic learning ressources, e-library, longlife learning etc.

April 5th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference How to become an independent EU expert?, organized by The Regional Contact Point of the 6th Framework Programme for European Research and Technological Development in Pozna?, managed by Poznan Science and Technology Park of the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation. Prof. Cellary, as an independent reviewer of EU projects, gave a speech How to review realization of EU-funded projects?

March 30th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the Cisco Systems iExec Workshop held on the 30th and 31st of March in Beirut (Lebanon). The workshop was devoted to the pilot phase of the Business Essentials Program in Poland.

March 24th, 2006 Dr Wojciech Wiza gave lectures on Virtual Reality - Opportunities and Threats to the students of The University of Oviedo (Spain) in the framework of the SOCRATES ERASMUS Program. He was also a guest of the Human Communication and Interaction Research Group of The University of Oviedo. Dr Wiza was acquainted with the current research activity of the HCI Research Group.

March 16th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a first session of the National PhD Seminar organized by the Institute of Knowledge Society, an independent non-governmental research institute established by the Polish Rectors Foundation. The main topic of the seminar is a role of higher education in the knowledge society development.

March 9th, 2006 The Poznan University of Economics hosted the representatives of The French National Institut for Research in Computer Sciences and Control (INRIA): Prof. Jean-Pierre Banatre, Deputy Director of European and International Affairs, Dr. Michel Loyer, responsible for INRIA participation in international research programs, and M. Pierre Michel, Attaché for the Science and Technology at the French Embassy. The guests met two PUE departments: The Department of Information Technology and The Department of Management Information Systems. During the meeting the results of research activity of The Department of Information Technology and The Department of Management Information Systems were presented. March 6th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary was nominated a member of the Research Council of the Group of the Grandes Ecoles of Telecommunications (GET) by the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of France. GET is a prestigious federation of schools and a public research body, placed under the aegis of the French Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. GET mission lies in higher education, research and continuing training in the field of information and communication science and technology. March 3rd, 2006 Dr. Willy Picard has undertaken SOCRATES ERASMUS teaching activities at The National Institute of Telecommunications in Evry (France) from February 26th to March 3rd, 2006. Dr. Picard gave 9 hours of lectures on electronic negotiaitions.

March 3rd, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a seminar organized for representatives of local authorities of the Walcz Region in the framework of the project Leader+. Prof. Cellary gave an invited lecture Opportunities of Information Society Development in Rural Areas and Small Cities.

March 2nd, 2006 Prof. Witold Jurek, Rector of The Poznan University of Economics, and Prof. Marek Ratajczak, Vice-Rector for Development and Personnel Advancement, visited our Department. In the presence of the staff and students they opened a newly equipped computer laboratory. The Rectors participated in a seminar presenting the current research activity of the Department of Information Technology. February 28th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a Teleinfo Experts Forum organized in Warsaw jointly by the monthly Teleinfo and Ernst&Young. The forum is a serial debate bringing together experts, politicians, academicians, industry and government representatives discussing on Information Technology issues. The main topic of the debate was A Strategy for Computerisation of the State - Opportunities, Chances and Challenges. The voices of participants of the debate will be published in a next Teleinfo issue.

January 27th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 6th International Symposium on Applications and the Internet SAINT 2006, organized jointly by the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS) and the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ), in cooperation with Communications Society (CS) and Information and Systems Society (ISS) of The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE). The conference was held in Phoenix (USA) from January 23rd to January 27th, 2006. Prof. Cellary served as an International Liaison Chair and a member of the Steering Committee of the conference. He participated also in the panel discussion Future of Internet Applications. Dr. Krzysztof Walczak served as a Panels Chair and a member of the Program Committee. January 23rd, 2006 Dr. Wojciech Wiza participated in the conference IT Security Management GigaCon 2006 which was held in Warsaw from January 23th to January 24th, 2006. On January 25th Dr. Wiza visited Ernst & Young in order to prepare a new edition of the contest University Ernst & Young.

January 13th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary and Dr. Krzysztof Walczak have been invited to join the Technical Committee of the International Conference on Digital Telecommunications ICDT 2006 to be held in France, August 30-31, 2006.

January 12th, 2006 Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the conference Using Internet in Rural Development - Rural Information Society Building, organized in Warsaw by Polish-American Freedom Foundation, Cisco Systems Poland, and Rural Development Foundation. January 11th, 2006 Dr. Sergiusz Strykowski participated in the conference International Crossroads - Global Trends in Management and Technology, organized by Institut National des Telecommunications in Evry (France) from January 11th to January 13th, 2006, The main goal of the conference was to promote academic exchange and a multi-cultural environment presenting education and life in the various countries of the five continents covered by INT exchange programs. INT organized simultaneously a Study Abroad Fair with stands representing partner institutions and other organizations involved in the study abroad experience.
