Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working session of the Council for Informatization, an advisory body to the Minister of Administration and Digitization. The meeting took place in Warsaw, in the ministry premises.

Prof. Krzysztof Walczak particpated as an independent expert of European Commission in a second evaluation of proposals submitted to FP 7 Objective 1.6 ICT - Connected and Social Media, Call 10. The session took place in Brussels.

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Tomasz Janowski, a Senior Research Fellow at The United Nations University UNU-IIST (Macao, Chiny, where he founded and heads the Center for Electronic Governance. He gave an open lecture entitled „Electronic Governance for Sustainable Development – Conceptual Framework and State of Research”.

During V PUE's Day celebrations Prof. Jarogniew Rykowski was awarded with a Medal of the National Education Commission conferred by the Minister of National Education for outstanding contribution to education.

February 13 - 15, 2013

Wojciech Wiza, Ph.D, attended an international conference The 10th IASTED International Conference on Web-based Education WBE 2013, which was held in Insbruck (Austria). During a tutorial entitled “Applying Web 2.0 Tools in Education and the Work Place", prepared by a team of partners of an European project Ed2.0 Work, Dr Wiza gave a presentation "Exploring the concept of Web 2.0". During the conference the partners of the Ed2.0 Work project participated also in a formal partners meeting.

Mr. Jakub Flotyński participated in The 1st International Conference on Building and Exploring Web Based Environments, which was held in Sevilla (Spain). Jakub Flotyński presented a paper entitled „Describing Semantics of 3D Web Content with RDFa” (authors: J. Flotyński, and K. Walczak).

zlota myszResults of the 14th edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! The contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes were founded by Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., the main sponsor of the contest. The results were announced during the reward ceremony hosted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representatives of sponsors, and the Vice-Rector for Education and Students, prof. Jacek Mizerka and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, prof. Dorota Appenzeller. The First Prize went to Grzegorz Tomkowiak for a projekt entitled "Schoolwars".

January 7 - 11, 2013

Dr. Jacek Chmielewski has been on one week secondment at the Fraunhofer FOKUS Competence Center for Future Media and Applications in Berlin in the framework of the European Project UNITE (Upgrading ICT excellence by strengthening cooperation between research teams in an enlarged Europe). The secondment granted the Institute for the Development of New Technologies UNINOVA (Portugal) as a principal coordinator of the project, which envisages the mobility of researchers to a foreign host organization.

The Council of the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the Wroclaw University of Technology launched Dr. Willy Picard's habilitation procedure upon his habilitation dissertation entitled "Adaptation of Service Protocols".
