The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. Results of the 9th edition of the Golden Mouse Contest announced! For the first time the contest was addressed to the 1st year students of the newly established Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy. The purpose of the contest was to reward the best business project that promotes use of new Internet and mobile technologies in the business process chain. The main criteria of the evaluation were: business model, use of new technologies for organization and management transformation, quality of design. The prizes (SmartPhones ASUS P526 with Europe maps, Apple iPod`s 8GB, FlashPens Voyager 4GB) were founded by Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., the main sponsor of the contest. The results were announced during the reward ceremony hosted by Prof. Wojciech Cellary, in the presence of the representatives of sponsors, Mr. Milosz Brakoniecki and Mr.Damian Ludke, and the vice-dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy, Prof. Krzysztof Malaga. The First Prize went to a team Michal Milczewski and Filip Urbanski for a project called WebTicket, the Second Prize went to a team Agnieszka Kukulka and Ewa Filipowicz for a project called Common Trip, and the Third Prize went to a team Justyna Strzykala and Marcin Ratajczak for a project called Rent a Software.

January 25th, 2008 Mr. Grzegorz Wojciechowski participated in the event International Crossroads - Global Trends in Management and Technology, organized by Institut National des Telecommunications (INT)in Evry (France) from January 22nd to January 25th, 2008. The main goal of the conference was to promote academic exchange and a multi-cultural environment presenting education and life in the various countries of the five continents covered by INT exchange programs. INT organized simultaneously a Study Abroad Fair with stands representing partner institutions and other organizations involved in the study abroad experience.

January 15th, 2008

Mr. Jacek Chmielewski defended publicly his Ph.D. dissertation entitled Metadata Schema of Interactions for Multimedia Objects at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of The Gdansk University of Technology. The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Wojciech Cellary.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working session of the Presidium of the "Poland 2000 Plus" Forecast Committee affiliated with the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Science in Warsaw.

Global Information Society

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited lecture on Global Information Society in the framework of Open Lectures Program of the Questions of Boundaries Research Group of The Adam Mickiewicz University.
