Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 13 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Wojciech Cellary. Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an inaugural lecture entitled "Future cyber-world for today's high school students" for students of Poznan high schools participating in the "PUEB Partnership Class" program.

The results of the 17th edition of the competition for the Scientific Awards of the weekly POLITYKA announced! Among 15 finalists is Jakub Flotyński, assistant professor at the Department of Information Technology, who received the Final Prize in the amount of 5,000 PLN. POLITYKA Foundation competition addressed to young scientists is organized as part of the "Stay with us" campaign, run under the patronage of the POLITYKA weekly.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended as a panelist an international conference Freedom Games 2017 - "RE:evolution / Digital reality" organized in Łódź (Poland) by Liberté! Foundation. Prof. Cellary participated in a panel discussion entitled „The Perspectives of Free Trade Development”. A special guest of the panel was Maria Åsenius, a Head of Cabinet to EU Commissioner Cecille Malmström.

Adam Wójtowicz, PhD, attended VI Poland-Taiwan Seminar on Artificial Intelligence, organized in Warsaw jointly by The National Centre for Research and Development of Poland, The National Science Council of Taiwan and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan.

Jakub Flotyński, PhD, received a short-term research scholarship from DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service). A one month scholarship will start in March 2018 at the Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Group of University of Bremen. The CGVR Group is conducted by Prof. Gabriel Zachman.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working session of the Council for Informatization of Education, an advisory body to Minister of National Education. Prof. Cellary serves as a member of the Council since 2012.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended The 26th National Scientific Symposium "Human - Media - Education" which took place in Dąbrowa Górnicza (Poland). During the plenary session of the conference prof. Wojciech Cellary presented a lecture entitled "School versus Virtual Reality".

September 20 - 22, 2017

Jarogniew Rykowski, PhD, attended The 8th Annual IEEE International Conference on RFID Technology and Applications RFID-TA 2017, which took place in Warsaw, September 20 - 22, 2017. During a plenary session Jarogniew Rykowski presented an invited lecture entitled "Is radio-based identification trusted?". During a working session Applications and Software he presented a paper entitled „Multi-dimensional identification of things, places and humans”.

Krzysztof Walczak, PhD, attended an inauguration meeting of ministerial task force for the development of scientific and IT infrastructure for research at the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The meeting took place in Ministry presmises in Warsaw.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary attended a conference The 5th International Conference on Human Side of Service Engineering HSSE 2017, organised within the framework of The 8th International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics AHFE 2017, which took place in Los Angeles (CA, USA), July 17 - 21, 2017. Prof. Wojciech Cellary served as a Program Co-Chair of the HSSE Conference. During a session entitled "Shaping the Human Side of T-Shaped Professionals II" he presented a paper „E-business as an example of T-shape education” (authors: Cellary, W., and J. Rykowski). Prof. Cellary co-chaired a closing session during which HSSE Best Paper Awards were presented.
