The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. April 12, 2018

The Polish Theater hosted a ceremony of awarding Victoria statuettes awarded by the Student Parliament of the University of Economics in Poznań to the teachers and administrative units of PUE. Prof. Wojciech Cellary was honored with the title of Mentor of the Faculty of Computer Science and Electronic Economy "I am a Legend".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary presented an invited lecture entitled "Libraries in the world of virtual and augmented reality" for the participants of the conference "Library - Cyberspace - Communication", which took place in Bydgoszcz on April 12, 2018. The organizers of the conference were Pedagogical Provincial Library in Bydgoszcz and the Library of the University of Casimir the Great in Bydgoszcz.

April 4 - 6, 2018

Krzysztof Walczak, PhD, attended the ACM VRIC Laval Virtual Scientific Conference taking place together with the Laval Virtual 2018 exhibition on 4-6 April 2018 in Laval, France. During the session "Interaction and Visualization" prof. Walczak presented a paper entitled "A Contextual Semantic Interaction Interface for Virtual Reality Environments" (authors: Sokołowski, J., and K. Walczak). The Laval Virtual exhibition was one of the largest exhibitions in the world concerning the techniques and applications of virtual reality, visited by over 17000 visitors.

April 3 - 6, 2018

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated as a member of the Steering Committee and the Program Committee at the 11th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance ICEGOV 2018, which took place in Galway (Ireland) from April 4 to April 6, 2018. The main conference was preceded by The Doctoral Colloquium for PhD students, co-chaired by prof. Cellary. During the colloqiuum prof. Cellary gave a keynote speach entitled "What is a good PhD Thesis?"

March 24, 2018

Jakub Flotyński, PhD, completed a month-long internship at the Institute for Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality at the University of Bremen, as part of a prestigious scholarship granted by DAAD - Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service). The Research Short-Term Grant involved a monthly stay at a selected scientific institution in Germany, in the case of Jakub Flotyński it was the Institute for Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality at the University of Bremen, operating under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Gabriel Zachmann.

Adam Wójtowicz, PhD, attended an international conference The 20th International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems ICEIS 2018, which took place in Funchal (Portugal)< March 21 - 24, 2018. During the session titled "Security and Authentification" Adam Wójtowicz presented a lecture entitled "Face-Based Passive Customer Identification Combined with Multimodal Context-Aware Payment Authorization: Evaluation at Point of Sale" (authors: Wójtowicz, A., J. Chmielewski).

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working meeting of the Scientific Council of the International Institute for Molecular Oncology Foundation. The meeting took place at the Institute's headquarters in Poznań.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated as a reviewer in the public defense of the doctoral dissertation entitled "Context-aware User Modeling and Recommendation Generation System", presented by Aleksandra Karpus, the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at the Gdansk University of Technology.

Krzysztof Walczak, PhD, participated as an independent expert of the European Commission (Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology, Brussels) in a working session evaluating the progress of the IMMERSIA TV H2020 project.

February 14, 2018

Prof. Wojciech Cellary visited Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria di Politecnico di Milano at the invitation of prof. Mariagrazzia Fugini. Prof. Cellary participated in a special seminar, during which the possibilities of joint submission of project applications to the H2020 Program and other European programs were discussed.
