The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. Prof. Wojciech Cellary received an individual Award of the Rector of the Poznan University of Economics for starting up a new M.Sc Programme "Applications of Internet Technology", conducted jointly by the Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Business of the Poznan University of Economics, the Faculty of Physics of the Adam Mickiewicz University and the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications of the Poznan University of Technology.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary, Prof. Jarogniew Rykowski, Prof. Krzysztof Walczak, Dr. Jacek Chmielewski, Dr. Willy Picard, Dr. Wojciech Wiza, and Zbigniew Paszkiewicz participated in an international conference the 6th European Ministerial e-Government Conference and Exhibition eGOV2011PL" -"Borderless e-Government Services for Europeans" which took place in Poznan (Poland) from November 17 to November 18, 2011. The conference was organized jointly by Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration in the framework of The Polish Presidency of the European Union, and the European Commission. The conference became a major event during the Polish Presidency, attracted approximately 900 stakeholders from around the world: ministers from EU Member States, officials from national, regional and local administrations, industry representatives, civil society and experts. Prof.Wojciech  Cellary was officially invited by the Minister of the Interior and Administration to serve as a Program Council Chair of the conference . He also chaired a First Plenary Session „Borderless eGovernment Services for Europeans”. The speakers of the session were: Neelie Kroes, Michał Boni, Harry van Dorenmalen, Rolf Alter and Juhan Parts.

The Poznan University of Economics hosted an international conference „Innovation for eParticipation – Pre-Conference to the 6th European Ministerial e-Government Conference and Exhibition eGOV2011PL - Borderless eGovernment Services for Europeans", organized jointly by the Department of Information Technology,  the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems VINNOVA, and Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP). Prof. Wojciech Cellary served as a co-chair of Program Committee of the Pre-Conference. He also chaired the Opening Session. The Pre-Conference was intended to show the results of important European eGovernment research in generating and implementing e-visions and e-solutions, as well as the possibilities to build new strategies upon current results. The following themes were focused on: Innovations for Government e-participation, Innovations for Business e-participation and Innovative e-services. More than 170 attendees came from 18 countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Dennmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Letuvia, Luxemburg, Netherland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, United  Kingdom, and USA.

Dr Jacek Chmielewski participated in an international conference The 2nd FOKUS Media Web Symposium – Apps Everwhere, HybridTV and Social Media Experience”, which took place in Berlin from November 10 – 11, 2001. The conference gathered future media and mobile web experts, technology vendors and content providers discussing the roadmap of Mobile Applications, SmartTV and Social Media development.

October 24 - 28, 2011

Prof. Jarogniew Rykowski, Prof. Krzysztof Walczak, Dr. Jacek Chmielewski participated in a series of events "Future Internet Week" which took place in Poznan (Poland) from October 24 to October 28, 2011. Main conference Future Internet Conference followed the conferences: Internet of Things, Future Internet Assembly, Future Internet Forum and Future Internet Poland. The Future Internet Week was the event giving a  unique opportunity both to discuss the new ICT technologies, as well as to enable an active dialogue between the public and private sector. The Future Internet Week was one of the most important social events of the Polish Presidency, crucial from the perspective of “Europe 2020” strategy.

October 17 - 21, 2011

Dr. Jacek Chmielewski participated in a project meeting of the European WEBINOS project, which took place in Surrey (UK) from October 17 to October 21, 2011. Dr. Chmielewski was invited to the meeting by Dr. Stephan Steglich, the Head of Competence Center “Future Applications and Media” (FAME) of the FOKUS Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems. The invitation was an effect of research collaboration in the field of mobile technologies and multi-device solutions. WEBINOS is an EU-funded project and affiliate program aiming to define and deliver an Open Source Platform and software components for the Future Internet in the form of web runtime extensions, to enable web applications and services to be used and shared consistently and securely over a broad spectrum of converged and connected devices, including mobile, PC, home media (TV) and in-car units.

Prof. Jarogniew Rykowski participated in an international conference The 6th Congress on Intelligent Building Systems InBus 2011, which took place in Cracow (Poland) from October 20 to October 21, 2011. Prof. Rykowski presented a paper "Modeling and Controlling a Network of Devices of an Intelligent Building by Means of Ontologies and Contexts" (author: J. Rykowski).

October 20 - 22, 2011

Dr. Wojciech Wiza participated in an international conference The 9th International Conference on Multimedia in Business and Management, which was held in Wisła (Poland) from October 20 to October 22, 2011. Dr. Wiza presented two papers: "Adaptable User Interfaces for Web2.0 Educational Resources” (authors: K. Walczak, W. Wiza) and “Multimedia Micro-Macro Guides for Cultural Heritage Institutions” (author: W. Wiza).

Dr. Adam Wójtowicz participated in an international conference The International Conference on European Transnational Education ICEUTE 2011, which took place in Salamanca (Spain) from October 20 to October 21, 2011. Dr Wójtowicz presented a paper "Web Platform with Role-Based Security for Decentralized Creation of Web 2.0 Learning Content” (authors: Wójtowicz, A., K. Walczak, W. Wiza, D. Rumiński).

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in The 5th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance ICEGOV 2011, which took place in Tallinn (Estonia) from September 26 to September 29, 2011. Prof. Cellary has been invited to participate in a panel discussion on Future Electronic Governance.
