The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. September 22 - 26, 2011

The Department Information of Technology hosted Prof. Joseph E. Urban from Texas Tech University and National Science Foundation (USA). On September 22 Prof. Urban gave an open lecture entitled „Moving Forward With Computing Research and Education in the Second Decade of the Twenty-First Century” for PUE staff and students. He participated also in an internal seminar entitled “The Architecture of Privacy Preserving, Distributed Electronic Health Records System”, presented by Mr. Daniel Wilusz. Prof. Urban consulted also DIT’s researchers who presented him theirs current research areas and results. On Saturday 24 September, he participated also in The Faculty of Informatics and E-Commerce’s students graduation ceremony.

September 18 - 20, 2011

Dr. Rafał Wojciechowski and Jakub Flotyński participated in The 32nd International Conference on Information Systems Architecture and Technology ISAT 2011, which took place in Szklarskiej Poręb (Poland). During the conference Jakub Flotyński presented two papers: "Transparent Authorization and Access Control in Event-based OSGI Environments (authors: Flotyński, J., and W. Picard) and "Adaptable User Interfaces for Secure Repositories of Learning Content (authors: Wójtowicz, A., J. Flotyński, D. Rumiński, and K. Walczak). Dr. Wojciechowski presented a paper entitled "Ontology-based Modeling for Automation of Administrative Procedures (authors: Strykowski, S., and R. Wojciechowski).

September 8, 2011

The Department of Information Technology received from Polish Information Processing Society Laboratory a certificate of Test Center entitled to release the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). The ECDL certificate attests the acquired knowledge about computer basic concepts and file management and the ability to use software tools as: word processor, electronic spreadsheet, database, presentation software and use of internet and email. The certificate is valid in all the countries that joined the project. For any questions or enquiries, please contact the ECDL Test Center coordinator, Jan Swierzowicz.

September 15 - 17, 2011

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated as an independent EC expert in a second review of  European project CONVERGENCE, funded by the European Union's 7th Framework Programme. The meeting took place in Brussels in Euroepan Commission premises.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the working consultations concerning The 6th EU Ministerial e-Governance Conference eGOVPL2011 which will be held in Poznan on November 17 - 18, 2011 in the framework of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. Prof. Cellary serves as a Chair of the Programme Committee of  the Conference. 

July 21, 2011

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited by Minister Michal Boni, President of the Board of Strategic Advisors to the Prime Minister of Poland, to participate in a debate of experts on a document "Poland 2030 Report". The Report is a summary of an analysis of development dilemmas faced by Poland. Resolution of the dilemmas will have a crucial effect on the further development of Poland, in a time perspective of one generation – in about 20 years’ time.

Mr. Zbigniew Paszkiewicz participated in The 20th World Business Congress of the International Management Development Association IMDA 2011, which took place in Poznan, July 5 - 7, 2011. During a session Global Information and Technology Management, Mr. Paszkiewicz presented a paper entitled "Computer Supported Collaborative Processes in Virtual Organizations" (authors: Paszkiewicz, Z., W. Cellary). The paper received Best Paper Award.

The Department of Information Technology hosted particpants of an international "Workshop on Polish – German Experience of e-Identity”. In the workshop participated the representatives of Fraunhofer Institut for Open Communication Systems FOKUS from Berlin, Prof. Dr. Radu Popescu-Zeletin, Mr. Jens Fromm, Ms. Marina Grigorian,  and Dr. Marian Margraf from German Federal Ministry of the Interior. In the workshop participated  also the representatives of Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration involved in eID implementation. The  main goal of the workshop was to exchange opinions and experience on electronic identification cards which will replace conventional identiftication cards in most EU countries. In Germany, the eID cards were introduced in 2010, in Poland the procedure of eID implementaion will start in 2013. The workshop was chaired by Prof. Wojciech Cellary.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 6th Congress on Electronic Economy, organized in Warsaw by the Polish Bank Association. Prof. Cellary chaired a panel discussion entitled „Digital exclusion of citizens - clients”.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a debate of Polish government representatives and telecommunication sector representatives, devoted to the mutual expectations related to the European Digital Agenda implementation during Polish Presidency of the EU Council. The debate was organized in the framework of World Information Society Day 2011 which took place in Warsaw under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, the President of the European Parliament, the President of International Telecommunication Union and the Marshal of the Polish Parliament.
