The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 13 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Wojciech Cellary. April 9th, 2008

Dr. Wojciech Wiza has completed his 14-days research visit at the University of Sussex (Falmer-Brighton, UK). Dr. Wiza stayed at the University of Sussex between March 26th and April 8th in the framework of the INTUITION Mobility Grant.

Mr. Zbigniew Paszkiewicz participated in a conference IT Forum 2008, organized in Warsaw by IBM. Mr. Paszkiewicz participated in a panel devoted to Service Oriented Architecture SOA. During the panel, selected SOA cases study and implementations in Poland and all over the world were presented.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a panel discussion on cooperation between entreprises and research instituitions in the framework of the EU structural programmes. The panel was organized by an Innovation and Information Society Sub-Committee, a part of a Committee founded by The Prime Minister in order to monitor the realization of the National Development Programme.

April 7th, 2008

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has completed his 8-days research visit in Taipei (Taiwan), which took place between 30 March - 6 April, 2008. Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to visit National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Central University, National Taiwan University, Institute for Information Industry, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., Industrial Technology Research Institute, Hsinchu Science Park, and Telcordia Applied Research Center. He had also the meetings at the National Palace Museum and at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The main goal of the visit was to lay the foundations for future possible research collaboration between Taipei significant research and education institutions and Poznan University of Economics. During these meetings prof. Cellary had presentations entitled "Research on software agents and virtual reality in the Department of Information Technology of the Poznan University of Economics".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working session of the "Poland 2000 Plus" Forecast Commitee affiliated with The Presidium of The Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. The main topic of the session was the future of mass media. Prof . Cellary had a speech "The Future of Mass Media".

Prof. Wojciech Cellary had an invited speech on Network Virtual Organizations during the Open Door Event promoting The Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy.

March 12th, 2008

The Department of Information Technology hosted Prof. Dr. Ruediger Grimm from IT Risk Management Department of Informatics University Koblenz-Landau. Prof. Grimm acquainted with research results of DIT's members. Prof. Grimm gave also an open lecture entitled "Digital Rights Management and Alternative Business Models for Virtual Goods".

Dr. Wojciech Wiza participated in a conference „Towards Modern Museum" held in Warsaw from March 6th to March 7th, 2008. During a session „New media in museum - exhibition, information, advertising" Dr. Wiza presented an ARCO virtual museum technology.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a conference „Microsoft Innovation Forum 2008". Prof. Cellary took part in a panel discussion "How to stimulate innovation processes in Poland". The conference was held in Warsaw.
