Welcome to the Department of Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 14 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer and 8 research assistants. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. March 9 - 13, 2011

Mr. Dariusz Rumiński participated in the IADIS International Conference on Mobile Learning 2011, which was held in Avila (Spain), March 10-12, 2011. Mr. Rumiński presented a paper entitled “Adaptable Mobile User Interfaces for e-Learning Repositories” (authors: Walczak, K., J. Chmielewski, W. Wiza, D. Rumiński, and G. Skibiński). 

March 7 - 8, 2011

The Department of Information Technology hosted Prof. Bruno Salgues from TIC et Santé Montpellier Sud de France and Télécom Paris, and Prof. Gérard Dray from TIC et Santé Montpellier Sud de France. Prof. Bruno Salgues gave to PUE students an open lecture entitled “Application of Information and Communication Technologies in the Health Sector”. Prof. Gérard Dray presented a lecture entitled “Tele-Monitoring and Analysis of Stress”. During the visit Prof. Salgues and Prof. Dray were also acquainted with DIT current research areas and results.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in Warsaw in a working session of The "Poland 2000 Plus" Forecast Committee, affiliated with the Presidium of The Polish Academy of Science.

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in an inaugurational session of a special group of experts involved in planning and supervising development of IT infrastructure for research. The group is an advisory body to the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

February 4, 2011

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated as an independent EC expert in a review of  European project CONVERGENCE, funded by the European Union's 7th Framework Programme. The meeting took place in Torino (Italy) at The Politecnico di Torino premises.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated as a reviewer in a public defence of Mrs. Noemi Esnault's PhD Thesis entitled  "Production automatique d’interfaces graphiques 3D pour le Web”. The defence took place in Rennes (France) at the Research Institute in Computer Science and Random Systems (Institut de Recherche en Informatique et Systèmes Aléatoires IRISA, Université de Rennes 1).

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak has been invited by the Minister of Science and Higher Education to join a special group of experts who will be involved in planning and supervising development of IT infrastructure for research.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary has been invited by the Minister of Science and Higher Education to join a group of experts evaluating proposals submitted in the framework of two ministerial programmes: “Innovation Creator - Academic Initiative Advancement” and “Patent Plus – Patents Application Procedure Advancement”.

 Mr. Mirosław Stawniak and Mr. Adam Wójtowicz received Ph.D grade in informatics from The Council of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics of the Gdańsk University of Technology. Mr. Stawniak defended a PhD thesis entitled  "Search Method of Information Resources Related by Theme, Space and Time", and Mr. Wójtowicz a PhD thesis entitled "Selective Semantic Modeling Method SSM for Building Secure Multiaccess Virtual Environments”, both prepared under supervision of prof. Wojciech Cellary.

The Department of Information Technology hosted Prof. Jean-Pierre Auffret, a director of Center for Advanced Technology Strategy, George Mason University (USA). Prof. Auffret gave an open lecture entitled “There’s An App For That” – Mobiles and International Development” for PUE students and staff in the framework of Open Lectures Program. During his visit prof. Auffret was also acquainted with current research interests and projects developed in our department.
