The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 12 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer, 5 research assistants and 1 administrative person. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. October 5-7, 2009

The Department of Information Technology hosted on October 5-7, 2009 the 10th International Conference on Web Information Systems Engineering WISE 2009. The aim of this tenth edition of the conference series on Web Information Systems Engineering was to provide an international forum for researchers, professionals, and industrial practitioners to share their knowledge in the rapidly growing area of Web technologies, methodologies and applications. During the conference about 50 papers were presented by authors comming from 17 countries from all over the world. We had 15 scientific sessions, 3 keynote speeches, 3 tutorials, 2 industrial sessions, 1 panel and 1 special session. More details can be found at http://wise2009.ue.poznan.pl/.

October 6-9, 2009

Dr. Willy Picard, Zbigniew Paszkiewicz and Jan Świerzowicz participated in the 10th IFIP Working Conference on Virtual Entreprises PRO-VE 2009, which took place in Thessaloniki (Greece) on October 6-9, 2009. During the conference Zbigniew Paszkiewicz presented two papers: “Modeling Virtual Organization Architecture with the Virtual Organization Breeding Methodology" (authors: Picard, W., Z. Paszkiewicz) and "Reference Model for Performance Management in Service-Oriented Virtual Organization Breeding Environments" (authors: Picard, W., Z Paszkiewicz), dr. Willy Picard presented a paper entitled “Social Protocols for Agile Virtual Teams” (author: Picard, W.), and Jan Świerzowicz presented a paper “Social Requirements for Virtual Organization Breeding Environments” (authors: Picard, W., J. Świerzowicz). This paper received the 2nd Best Ph.D Paper Award.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary obtained a Commission of National Education Medal conferred by Minister of National Education to teachers for outstanding merit in the field of education.

July 1-3, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary, Dr. Jarogniew Rykowski, Dr. Willy Picard, Dr. Sergiusz Strykowski, Zbigniew Paszkiewicz and Jan Świerzowicz participated in a working seminar on "ITSOA - New information technologies for electronic economy and information society based on service-oriented architecture" project, currently developped in Department of Information Technology. The seminar took place in Szklarska Poreba. The goal of the project is to exploit modern information technologies from the area of distributed systems. Such techologies, based on the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm, support computerized business process management as well as development of service platforms and IT infrastructure for e-Science.

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak particpated in the Web3D 2009 International Symposium, which took place in Darmstadt (Germany), June 16-17, 2009. Dr Krzysztof  Walczak Server as a Program Co-Chair  of the Conference. He also chaired a panel session entitled Interactive 3D Visualization – Technologies and Applications.  

June 10th, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a working meeting of the team of experts who are working on the program preparing Polish EU Presidency.  The program defines work that should be taken between 2009-2011 to prepare Poland efficiently for holding the EU Presidency in 2011. The team brings together experts from Ministry of Interior and Administration, Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Culture and Heritage, the Office of the Committee for European Integration, the Office of Electronic Communication and the representatives of academia and industry.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the 4th National Congress of Electronic Economy which was held in Warsaw on May 28th, 2009. Prof. Cellary served as a member of the Program Council of the Congress. He chaired also a session entitled “Economic, Social and Legal Aspects of Electronic Economy in Poland”.

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in a debate of experts and representatives of academia and industry leaders. The debate was organized by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw. The debate was devoted to the Report „Poland 2030” prepared by the Team of Stategic Advisors to the Prime Minister.  

May 15th, 2009

Prof. Wojciech Cellary paticipated in celebrations of the World Information Society Day (WISD), organised by Polish Information Processing Society/ PIPS in co-operation with numerous public administration institutions, the world of science, corporations and non-governmental organisations. UNESCO, UNITED NATIONS and International Telecommunication Union/ ITU offered their Honourable Auspices for the celebrations of the World Information Society Day 2008 in Poland; and the Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Mr Grzegorz Schetyna.

Dr. Krzysztof Walczak participated in Brussels – as an independent expert of European Commission – in a working session evaluating projects submitted to the 7 Framework Program (FP7-ICT-2009-4).
