The Department of Information Technology (DIT) is part of the Faculty of Informatics and e-Economy of the Poznan University of Economics and Business. The Department is composed of 14 members: 1 full professor, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professors, 1 senior lecturer and 8 research assistants. The Department also takes care of 2 Ph.D. students. The research members have technical qualifications in computer science and engineering. The head of DIT is Professor Krzysztof Walczak. November, 12 - 14, 2019

Prof. Krzysztof Walczak participated as an independent expert of the European Commission in a session monitoring the implementation of the EASY TV project - "Easing the Access of Europeans Disabilities to Converging Media and Content" H2020, which was held in Madrid on November 12-14, 2019.

November 9 - 11, 2019

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in the international conference The 3rd International Conference on E-Business and Internet ICEBI 2019, which took place in Prague, November 9-11, 2019. Prof. Cellary served as a Conference Program Chair of the ICEBI conference. In addition, he was invited to give a keynote speech entitled "The impact of emerging IT on privacy as a key factor of future e-business".

October 22 - 25, 2019

Prof. Krzysztof Walczak participated in the international conference The 16th EuroVR International Conference, which was held in Tallinn (Estonia) from 22 to 25 October 2019. Prof. Walczak served as a General Co-Chair of the conference. He also organized the show of VR / AR applications developed at the Department of Information Technology in cooperation with AMICA S.A. UEP students who worked on creating applications as part of summer student internships also participated in the show. Prof. Walczak also gave an online interview for the Estonian business portal Business-M.

October 4 - 5, 2019

Researchers of the Department of Information Technology participated in the conference and exhibition "Poznan 4.0. Industry of the future: it pays off, it works ”, which took place on the premises of the Poznań International Fair. The event was organized by the Future Industry Platform Foundation and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology. Prof. Wojciech Cellary delivered an introductory lecture entitled "Industry 4.0 and Economy 4.0.” During the session "It works” prof. Krzysztof Walczak presented the presentation "Future Room" - technologies of the future in the AMICA Group, as an example of industry and university cooperation. During the gala award ceremony, the Virtual Reality Laboratory of the Poznań University of Economics was awarded the prestigious organizers' prize for presenting industry 4.0 technologies that operate and support the digital transformation of the Polish economy. The award was granted for the best-working innovative solutions developed in cooperation between science and industry.

September 19, 2019

Dr hab. Eng. Adam Wójtowicz gave an invited lecture entitled "End-user security: new requirements, threats and security" for participants of the "Safe E-commerce Conference (SEC)" which took place at the Research and Conference Center of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Będlewo near Poznań. The conference was organized by Polish Platform for Homeland Security.

September 15 - 17, 2019

Jakub Flotyński, PhD, Tomasz Krokosz, PhD student, and Adrian Nowak, a fourth-year student participated in The 40th International Conference on Information Systems Architecture and Technology ISAT 2019, which took place on September 15-17, 2019 at Wroclaw University of Technology. The Program Committee of the ISAT conference accepted the following articles for presentation and publication in conference proceedings published by Springer: "Verification of IoT devices by means of a shared secret" (authors: Krokosz T., J. Rykowski)  and  “Architecture for Distributed Explorable HMD-based Virtual Reality Environments "(authors: Flotyński, J., A. Nowak, K. Walczak).

September 11, 2019

Prof. Wojciech Cellary gave an invited lecture entitled "Industry 4.0" for members of the "Economy - Work - Entrepreneurship" section of the National Development Council at the President of the Republic of Poland. The topic of the meeting was "The Fourth Industrial Revolution - Consequences and (dis)adjustments in the economy."

September 8 - 11, 2019

Dominik Strugała, M.Sc., participated in The International Conference of Consumer Electronics ICCE, which was held in Berlin on September 8 - 11, 2019. The conference's Program Committee accepted for presentation and publication in conference proceedings an article entitled "An Immersive Service Guide for Home Appliances" (authors: Jakub Flotynski, Dominik Strugała, Krzysztof Walczak, Anna Englert, Mikołaj Maik, Adrian Nowak and Tomasz Jenek).

July 15 - 26, 2019

The Department of Information Technology hosted Dr. Rene Weller from the University of Bremen, Faculty of Computer Science, Institute for Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality. It was a scientific visit within the framework of the VAR project "Visual Autonomous Robotics", funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The purpose of the stay was to cooperate with the KTI team in writing and submitting the application to H2020 Program. Dr. Weller gave also a lecture "On Collisions and Spheres - Computer Graphics & VR in Bremen" for researchers and students from Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy.

July 22 - 25, 2019

Prof. Wojciech Cellary participated in The International Conference on Cyber ​​Security ICCS 2019, which was held in New York. The organizers of the ICCS conference are Fordham University of New York and FBI’s New York Office. Prof. Wojciech Cellary was invited to participate in a panel entitled "Blockchain and Security".
